Tyson is settling in very well. He runs around the house like he’s been here for years and we are so happy to see him opening up. Today’s training focused on teaching Tyson how to respond to very light pressure appropriately. We also introduced the Place command. Tyson’s appetite is good and we are monitoring his hydration due to the heat. Keep following to watch Tyson’s journey!

Tyson visited PetsMart today! Given the Urban focus of Tyson’s board and train, it’s important that we get him used to lots of different sights, smells, and sounds. Little by little, he’s starting to understand what we are asking of him. He’s such a sweet little guy! Stay tuned to watch all of Tyson’s progress over the coming days!

Tyson is coming right along in his training program! Because the focus of his training involves high-distraction, we like to work in (air conditioned) places with lots of people and smells. You can see that Tyson is learning how to properly heel. His Sit is looking great too! Keep following for more updates about Tyson’s journey!

Welcome back to Tyson’s blog! Today, we took a trip to Santa Monica Pier. Tyson shined as he demonstrated what we have been working on the past few days with ease. His focus is on his handler, regardless of what’s going on around him. This type of attentiveness is necessary for the safety of our dogs. Little Tyson’s appetite is great. He’s maintaining good hydration as well. Stay tuned for more news about Tyson!

Tyson loves his playtime! These pups work hard while they’re with us. Every interaction is a training moment; however, it’s also important to make sure we have a lot of fun along the way. The process needs to be enjoyable so training doesn’t become a “chore.” This little guy is engaged and full of spunk! Check back for more news about Tyson!

Look at Tyson go! This little champion attracts all the attention everywhere we go! The onleash heel is almost second nature to Tyson now. He’s working through challenges very well and showing us just how smart he is. This pup is a lot of fun. We will keep building and shaping Tyson into the best pup he can be!

Tyson has really come a long way with his extended downs. He’s a little fuzzy ball of energy so staying in one spot isn’t always the easiest task for him. But we are happy to report that Tyson is coming so far so fast! Check out how well he accepts the position and chooses to stay out rather than self-validate by running away. Keep coming back to see Tyson grow even more!

When we arrived home we did another spin around my neighborhood, about two miles in total. Tyson will be going for another here in a bit. The focus on the walks is to HEEL with the other dogs as a distraction. Tyson loves his roommate Foxy and they will goof around at every opportunity if you give them the chance. It has been challenging to walk them together but we continue to make progress.

Tyson has been spending quite a bit of time working on his heel with me. Generally, Tyson does well, staying close, and ignoring most distractions. Tyson does have his moments, as the video shows, where he forgets his focus and engages with the distractions. With that said, he would much rather play with Foxy than work for me...just so we are clear, Tyson is very puppy and enjoys the rough housing that he and Foxy can get into. Alone, Tyson is very manageable and listens the majority of the time with little to no corrections. When Tyson does need reminding the corrections are slight and rather easy to have him comply.

Today Tyson and did three rounds of training. We continue to drill the basic commands, but we put them to use when we too a field trip to Centinella Feed.
Tyson was very well behaved; his heel was nice, held his sit when asked and was a huge hit with the kids that work there.

Check out how well this little guy is doing! He easily navigates all the noisy distractions in a busy mall. We even had the opportunity to practice his greeting manners on film! Everyone’s eyes are fixed on Tyson, regardless of where we go! The lady in the video was ready to take him home!
Tyson has been picked up and is now back with his original trainer. We appreciate your patience as we navigated the emergency that necessitated his transfer for a few days. He is falling right back in the groove and hasn’t missed a step. Within the next 24 hours we will have updated the missing days in this blog for your viewing.

It’s Tyson’s last day with us and we couldn’t be more proud of the progress he has made in such a short time. This little guy is a joy to work with and a pleasure to have around the house. He really is a special pup. Here you will see us practicing the basics. These are the most imporrant behaviors we need to ask our pups for. We are proud to know you Tyson!
