Sunshine | Cane Corso | San Fernando, CA | In-Training

Sunshine, a seven month old Cane Corso, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Three Week Board and Train program. Sunshine comes to us with typical puppy behavior: lack of following commands, leash pulling, jumping to greet, and being mouthy when playing. Over the three weeks Sunshine will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Sunshine has settled in well at my home. She is getting along great with my pack. She has been running around and playing with them since she has gotten here.

Today Sunshine and I trained at home. I introduced and conditioned her to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit and Place. Place is a command where Sunshine must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be calm and relaxed. She did a great job on her first day of training!

Today Sunshine and I worked on her commands around the neighborhood. We practiced more of Place and Sit. Sunshine worked on a new command, Heel. It is still a work in progress but she is walking a lot better now. She is walking at my side and not trying to drag me around.

Today Sunshine and I went to The Grove to work on her commands around distractions. She was a a bit overwhelmed and distracted when we first arrived but as we walked around she became more focused. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers to work around dog distractions. Sunshine did very well today!

Today Sunshine and I went the The Citadel Outlets to work on her commands around distractions. We worked on three new commands: Come to Sit, Come to Heel, and Down. Down is not her favorite command, she put up a struggle with me while practicing this command. She did very well around the people distractions.

Today Sunshine and I went to the park to work on her commands. We worked on all her obedience commands and duration, holding her commands for longer. She knows her commands but can be stubborn when she doesn’t want to listen.

Today Sunshine and I went to Hollwood and worked on her commands on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Sunshine was a little distracted with all the commotion going on around us. As we practiced her commands, she became more focused. She did better with the down command today.

Today Sunshine and I worked on her obedience at home. We started working on her Canine Good Citizen requirements. She must complete all 10 requirements in order to pass.

Today Sunshine and I went to Lowes to work on her obedience around distractions. Sunshine practiced her commands semi-off leash! I let her drag the leash around while we practiced. She did pretty well, except for being scared and growling at people that wanted to approach her. If they walk by and ignore her, she’s fine, but when someone starts to talk to her Sunshine becomes timid and growls. Sunshine is more comfortable and friendly when I allow her to approach people to say hello.

Sunshine’s first day completely off leash! Today we went to the park to work on her off leash obedience. I am very proud of her! She did very well, even with the duck and geese distractions. We need to tighten up a few commands before she starts being off leash around high distractions.

Today Sunshine and I worked on her obedience commands at home. We worked on a new command: send away to place. She is doing awesome with her training!

Today Sunshine and her friends, Obi and Tina, joined me on a shopping spree at The Block at Orange. Sunshine worked on her off leash obedience around high distractions. She did very well! She was focused and obedient.

Today Sunshine and I went to Glendale Galleria to work on her off leash obedience around more distractions. She is doing very well with her training. We need some more work on her greeting manners. Sunshine gets a little too excited and pushes her weight on people while they pet her.

Today Sunshine and I went to the park to work on her off leash obedience. We practiced a new command, Under. She did very well and caught on to this command quick.

Sunshine took the day off from training today. She started her heat cycle and wasn’t feeling to well. I let her hangout and play with her friends. Sunshine mostly wanted to lay around and sleep. She has done very well with her training. She can’t wait to go home tomorrow and show you everything she has learned!
