Meet Major! Major is a 13 month old German Shepherd from Huntington Beach, CA and he is joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program! Major has a lot of his basic obedience down such as 'sit' and 'down' but needs help holding his commands. Major loves people and gets overly excited when he sees other dogs! Overall, Major is ready to learn and be the best he can be for his family! Check out his 14 day transformation.

Major and I spent time working on some of the commands he was familiar with such as sit and down. We worked on getting to know each other and getting used to me handling him with the e-collar. He is such a sweet boy and settled nicely in my home. We ended the night with some playtime and treats.

Major and I spent time getting to know each other some more. He was a bit overwhelmed walking around my neighborhood and was really interested in all of the dogs and cats that passed us. We worked on his heel today since Major was struggling to walk at my pace. I did go ahead and remove a link from his prong since it was too big. I did notice that Majors e collar is a bit loose so the contact points aren’t making contact with his skin. I did try to tighten it as much as I could but it still was fairly loose. This makes it a bit difficult to train Major with the e-collar since he doesn’t feel the stim at times. Overall, Major did such a great job. He settled in nicely in my home!

Major and I spent majority of the day working on all of the commands he knows such as sit, heel, down and come with hand signals. He did a great job but struggles to look at me. It was a bit difficult getting him to do the command without any verbal communication. We’re working our hardest to get him to listen to the e-collar as well as hand signals. The e-collar is still a bit loose so it is a bit hard to communicate with him in that way. I am trying to tighten it as much as I can. Overall, Major is doing a great job and is eager to learn quickly!

Major and I started our day by going to Cheviot Hills Park to work on all of his commands. He did have a hard time going into the kennel today and did try to bite me a couple of times. He doesn’t want to make the effort into jumping into the car so I was trying to help him up. He was frustrated and nipped at me a couple of times. After about 20 minutes he was able to get into the kennel with a treat lure. Major is doing really well with his commands now that his e-collar is fitted properly and is definitely learning the hand signals we practiced. It is a bit hard to get his attention at times since kissy noises don’t always work on him. Overall, he is a good boy! He ate 3 more cups of kibble for lunch!

Major and I went to a local park to work on place and his commands with just hand signals. It still is a struggle to get him to look at me even with the kissy noises. Major is definitely getting better at his heel but still gets excited when he sees other dogs. Major spent time working on place majority of the day since he doesn’t want to jump up onto anything. He was a bit spooked by the red slide but after a couple of tries he did amazing. Overall, Major is getting the hang of everything slowly! Major ate and 3 cups for lunch today!

Major and I worked on all of his commands with hand signals today! He did a great job and was able to heel with a dragging leash! He didn’t need any leash pressure at all and listened really well! Major is struggling with his come but is making progress the more we work on it. Overall, Major is improving nicely!

Major and I spent time working on his manners in my home. He tends to get really excited when eating his food so we’ve been working on his impulse control. He was struggling a bit with his come command so we worked on it heavily today. He did struggle getting into the car kennel today but was able to jump in after a couple of tries. Overall, Major is doing great!

Major and I spent training today at Petco. He did a great job but was really distracted in the beginning. After some time he did calm down and was able to do all of his commands! He is getting a lot better with his come command but still struggles with heel. He wants to walk in front of me or at times slows down. He ate 3 more cups for lunch!

Major and I went to Boysen Park today to work on all of his commands around other dogs and their trainers. He was really overwhelmed in the beginning since there were a lot of dogs there. He did really well with all of his commands and is listening a lot better with the hand signals. Major did have a bit of an upset tummy so his stool was watery. I went ahead and added pumpkin to his food to help soothe his tummy.

Major and I spent the day working on his manners since he really struggles with impulse control when it comes to his food or the door. It did take him a while to get the hang of it but after some time he was patient and did great! Major and I even used a small leash today to work on his off leash heel. He definitely still gets a bit distracted but does a great job overall. His tummy is still a bit upset so I went ahead and gave him some more pumpkin. He didn’t want to eat all of his lunch, he only ate half of the 3 cups.

Major and I spent the day working on all of his commands at Wilderness Park. We worked off leash for majority of our training but did use some leash pressure when working on place. Major didn’t want to make the effort to jump up on the stone bench so he needed some help to get him up. Major is doing amazing with all of his other commands and jumps up in the car on his own now. Majors tummy is still a little upset but not as much as it was the days before.

Major and I went to Lowe’s to work on all of his commands off leash! He did such a great job with all of the noise and people! He ended his day with some playtime and working on his food manners. We also worked on his impulse control since he wanted to jump up and take treats out of my hand. He is such a good boy! His tummy is feeling a lot better today but he isn't eating as much of his food. I'm still adding the pumpkin.

Major and I went to Santa Monica Pier where we worked on all of his commands off leash! He did such a great job with the crowds and was able to do all of his commands really well! Major did have trouble with his come to sit command but was able to do it after a couple of tries! Major is such a good boy and had some play time before bed today! His tummy is much better but he is still lacking in appetite. He drank plenty of water today!
