Koa | Blue Merle Miniature Goldendoodle | Los Angels, CA | In-Training

Welcome Koa! Koa is an 8 month old Blue Merle Goldendoodle from Los Angel, CA. Koa is joining us for a two week board and train. Koa is a friendly sweet boy, when he gets excited he likes to jump up on people and pull on the leash. He also barks at skateboards and strollers. Check back with us to see his progress!

Koa had a great day today, I introduced him to the E-collar while we practiced heel and a few other commands to start off his training. He’s still getting used to the E-collar but I can tell he is going to do great with it. He seems to be adapting well to his new surroundings and training routine.

Koa had a very productive day. Today we went to a park and dog park where we practiced heeling with all the distractions and he did great. No pulling to the dog park, which is one of the things he needs help with. We also saw someone on a skateboard while out walking and he did well with that too, no barking.

Today Koa learned that skateboarding does not represent excitement. Koa tends to get overly excited when he is around skateboards and strollers so for his lesson today we hung out at the skate park where Koa learned that he can have a calm state of mind while being surrounded by excitement. He’s doing great!

Today was another fabulous day for Koa. He is such a good boy, he’s learning some self control when it comes to his excitement level, he’s young so he can be a little rambunctious at times but he does learn quickly and responds well to his

commands.

_____________________________________________ Pupdate 1/14/2021 Today Koa worked on some basic commands but with higher distractions. Before Koa would pull his way to the dog park but as you can see he is learning a new association when around the dog park. He can be a little stubborn at times but is making great progress.

Today Koa worked on place, heel and come to sit but with the distraction of ducks and people walking with kids and strollers. He is doing great with most commands, we’ll continue to work on

them as we increase distraction to challenge him a little bit more every day.

Koa is getting better at his commands while in high distraction places. Today we worked more on his heel and place while being exposed to distractions like strollers, kids, we also saw some birds which trigger his prey drive, it wasn’t easy for him but he did really well and didn’t break from his heel or sit.

Today we went back to the park and the mall, new day, new challenges. Today at the park an off leash dog ran up to Koa while he was on place, which is a big distraction for excitable dogs but Koa did a fantastic job and didn’t come off his place, the other dog was just curious and continued on its way when Koa didn’t engage. This shows Koa’s progress and how he has a different association with dogs and the dog park. And I snapped a cute picture of Koa having some quiet time in between his training.

Pupdate 1/19/2021

Today we worked on fine tuning everything Koa has learned and just reiterated commands so he understands the tool we use to communicate with him. He’s doing great, I’m proud of him and is progress. He does have a big appetite and is very food motivated so he does great with food manners.
