Karma, a 1 year old Labradoodle, joined OffLeash SoCal for our two week board and train program. Karma is a sweet and friendly girl Who comes to us with some bad habits: bolting, jumping, lack of following commands when distracted, and barking. Over the next two weeks Karma will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!
Today i introduced and conditioned Karma to the ecollar. We practiced commands sit, down, and place. Place is a command where karma must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be relaxed and calm. Karma did a great job on her first day of training. She has warmed up to the rest of the pack at my home and is having fun running around and playing with her new friends.
Today Karma and I went to the park to work on her commands. we practiced come to sit, place, and down. She was distracted at first, but once we started working Karma settled down and began focusing on me and the commands I asked of her.
Today karma and i went to the park to work on her commands. We practiced a new command, heel. It’s still a work in progress but karma is walking a lot better now. Less leash pulling and more staying right at my side.
Today karma and I met with a few other OffLeash SoCal trainers at the park. Karma practiced all her commands with dog distractions. She did very good! She was interested in the other dogs but didn’t bark at or pull to get to them. She stayed focused and followed all her commands. At home karma got to join the pack for meal time. During pack feeding all dogs must be calm and wait while I prepare the food. Each dog must sit and wait their turn until called to eat their food. Once they are done eating they are not allowed to go eat another dogs food. They must wait until everyone is done or walk away and give space. This teaches karma boundaries and respect for me as well as the other pack members.
Karma workin on her obedience at the Citadel Outlets.
Today karma and I went to the park to work on her off leash commands. She is doing an awesome job with her training! We worked around other dogs, some that were barking at her. She ignored them and continued following commands. Karma’s tummy wasn’t feeling too well. I noticed she had diarrhea. I fed her white rice with their soft food and added probiotics. I will keep watch and see if that helps settle her stomach.
Today Karma took a day off from training to rest. She seemed seemed a little exhausted, all she wanted to us lay in her bed and rest. I called the vet to see if this was normal. I believe from not feeling good for the past few days, going vet and getting shots has stressed her and her body out. I didn’t want stress her out more so we took a break from training. Later in the day she got up and joined me and the other dogs for socialization.
