Dakota | Bernedoodle | Redondo Beach, CA | In-Training.
Dakota, a 1 year old Bernedoodle, is back with Offleash SoCal for her 3 week board and train program. Dakota is easily distracted and lacks following commands. Over the next 3 weeks she will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!
Today I reintroduced the ecollar to Dakota and we started working on her commands. We practiced Sit and Place. I noticed she got a little snappy with the other dogs if they got too close to her food bowl. There was barely any food in it and she didn't even want to eat, but she didn't want anyone near it either. Other than that, she loves running around and wrestling with her new friends.
Today Dakota and I worked on her training at home. We practiced all her commands: come to sit, place, down, and heel. Dakota knows her commands pretty well, but she breaks her command right after she does it. We need to work on her focus and holding her commands.
Today Dakota and I started working on her commands off leash. We worked on her off leash heel up my street. She is doing very well with her training. We are working on her duration, holding commands longer, and she is getting better. Dakota's focus needs some more work, she tends to look around and worry more on what's going on around her than paying attention to me.
Today Dakota and I went on a little shopping spree at Fashion Island in Newport. She was a little nervous when we first got there. Once we walked around for a bit, Dakota was able to relax and focus on her commands.
Today Dakota and I went to the park to work on her commands. We started working on a new command, Under. We also practiced some of her Canine Good Citizen requirements. She must complete all 10 tasks to pass the test.
Today Dakota and I went to Lowe's to stay out of the heat and work on her off leash commands around some distractions. She did a great job and even one of the employees complimented her on how well behaved she was!
Dakota working on her off leash commands. She is doing an awesome job with her training!
Apologies for the late post, I was having trouble uploading Dakota's video. Today I took Dakota to The Shoppes at 'Chino Hills to work on her off leash obedience around distractions. After, we went to a park to work on her duration and distance work off leash.
Today Dakota joined me at my grandparents vineyard for a family get together. Everyone loved her and couldn't believe how well mannered she is. She sat politely for petting, greeted the other family dogs respectfully, and was very gentle with a new 8 week teacup poodle. Dakota was a very good girl and followed all her commands.
Today Dakota and her friend, Ava, joined me on a little shopping spree at The Block at Orange. Ava is a nervous girl when going out in public, so Dakota has been a big help with showing her friend how to be calm and relaxed around distractions. Dakota is doing such an awesome job with her off leash obedience!

Dakota took the day off from training and spent her last day having fun. I took Dakota over to a friends house for a doggie pool party. She made a new friend, Blue the Pit Bull. She didn’t want to swim but she dipped her feet into the water. I gave her a bath once we got home, hopefully she can stay clean for tomorrow. Dakota can’t wait to go home and show you all she has learned.
