Chumleigh Junior, an eight month old Miniature Australian Shepherd, has joined
OffLeash SoCal for our Three Week Board and Train program. He is a very energetic boy lacks following his commands if distracted, pulls on the leash and jumps when walking, play bites, and jumps to greet. Over the Three Weeks Chumleigh Junior will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!
Chumleigh Junior is settling in well at my home. He is getting along great with all the other dogs. He has been playing and running around nonstop since he got here.!
Today Chumleigh Junior and I stayed home to work on his obedience commands. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit and Place. He did very well and caught on to his new command quickly. He did well sleeping in the crate at night, but gave me some trouble during the day. He just wanted to stay out and play with his friends all day and not take any rest breaks. Chumleigh did great on his first day of training!
Today Chumleigh Junior and I went to the park to work on his obedience. We continued practicing his Sit and Place. We worked on a new command, Heel. It is still a work in progress, but he is walking much better now. He is walking at my side and no longer trying to jump.
Today Chumleigh Junior and I went to the park to work on his obedience. We worked on a new command, Down. He did very well and caught on to his new command quickly. We practiced more of the Heel command. Chumleigh is getting much better. He was more focused on me and stayed right at my side as we walked.
Today Chumleigh Junior joined me on a little shopping spree at the mall. He got to practice his commands around people distractions. He was a little distracted at first, but as we walked around he was able to settle down and focus back on me and his commands. We still need some more work on his duration. Chumleigh tries to break from his commands before I release him, but I make sure that he follows through.
Today Chumleigh Junior and I went to Hollywood to work on his obedience around high distractions. It was a little overwhelming in the beginning with all the commotion that was going on around us. It was a little hard for him to focus, but as we walked around and practice his commands Junior was able to relax and focus on his commands.
Today Chumleigh Junior and I went to the park to work on his commands. We met with other Offleash, SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Junior was able to practice around other dog distractions. We work on a new command today, come to sit. he did very well onto his new command quickly.

Today Chumleigh Junior and I went down to the beach to work on his obedience around distractions. Junior did very well. He was focused and obedient. Even with other dogs passing by he stayed in his commands. The only struggle we had was if someone wanted to say hi to him. Junior tried his hardest to stay in a sit, but couldn’t resist getting up to say hello.
Today Chumleigh Junior wasn’t feeling to well, so we did some light training around the neighborhood. We worked on all his commands and practiced his duration and distance. Something seems to be upsetting his tummy. He threw up some yellow bile and has diarrhea. I gave him white rice and anti diarrhea liquid to help soak up whatever is bothering his tummy. I will keep an eye on him and see how he’s feeling tomorrow.
Today Chumleigh Junior is feeling a little bit better today. His stool isn’t completely back to normal but is looking better than yesterday. We went to Lowe’s to work on his obedience. We started practicing his commands off leash. He did very well. Junior was focused and obedient.
Today Chumleigh Junior and I went to the mall to work on her obedience around distractions. Junior worked completely off leash. He did great! He was focused and obedient. A few people stopped to compliment him on how well behaved he is.
Today Chumleigh Junior and I stayed home to train. We practiced all of his obedience commands and worked on his distance and duration. We started practicing his food manners, teaching him not to rush to the food bowl right when I put it down. Junior needs to sit and wait politely until I give them permission to eat. We also practiced his door Manners, teaching him that he is not allowed to pass thresholds until given permission.
Today Chumleigh Junior and I went to the mall to work on his off leash obedience. He did awesome! He was focused and obedient. He had many people stop to admire him while he was working. They complimented Junior and his good behavior and he sat nicely while everyone pet and gave him affection.
Today Chumleigh Junior assisted me with one of my training lessons today. I used him as a dog distraction for the puppy I was training. Junior did great. He listened to all his commands. He stayed focused even with the puppy trying to play with him. After training was over they got to play and socialize with each other.
Today Chumleigh Junior and I went to the mall to work on his obedience around distractions. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so he could work around dog distractions. As usual, Junior did great! He was focused and obedient.
Today Chumleigh Junior and I went to the beach to work on his obedience around distractions. He did very well being off leash. He stayed focused, even with all the dog distractions around us. The only time Junior became distracted is when a gentleman approached him and started talking to him, Junior broke his command to say hello.

Today Chumleigh Junior tagged along with me while I did some shopping at the mall. He wasn’t very enthusiastic about following me through every store while shopped for clothes, typical boy haha. Junior practiced his off leash obedience around many people distractions. People would stop and watch as we passed by because Junior was walking along side me, without a leash, while I carried my bags. He got a lot of compliments on how well behaved he is. Junior did a great job today!
Today Chumleigh Junior took the day off from training and spent the day playing and socializing with his friends before he goes home. I gave him a bath so he could be clean when he sees you, but it didn’t last very long. He wrestled around with his buddies getting all dirty again. Junior has done an awesome job with his training! He can’t wait to go home and show you everything he has learned!
