Miniature Bernedoodle - Dog Training | Winston | South Pasadena , CA

Winston, a Bernedoodle, from South Pasadena, CA went through the Balanced Canine Training SoCal 2 Week Board & Train dog training program. Winston was trained by dog trainer Haley Giwoff in Costa Mesa, CA

Meet Winston! He is a sweet happy 1 year old Miniature Bernadoodle from South Pasadena. He is here to do our Two-Week Board and Train Program to stop his pulling, squirrel chasing, barking, and give his parents a way to get his attention! He is an absolute joy already and I can't wait to see how much he is going to grow over the next 14 days. Stay tuned for his transformation!

Mr. Winston is adjusting absolutely fantastically! We did his "before video", got acquainted with the new digs, and did a little introduction to the E-collar. He ate all his dinner down quick! He is having a little kennel anxiety but calms down super quick and overall is doing significantly better than average on that front. He is still coming out of his shell a little, but I can't wait to do his first full lesson with him tomorrow!

Mr. Winston did great on his first day! We did several lessons in the backyard today getting him used to the basics and the E-collar. He is a smart pup! He does get a little stubborn sometimes, but with a little patience he always works through it! He is eating great, slept the whole night through in the kennel like a baby, and is as happy as can be when we are out!

Winston had a great second day! We worked on all the basics of just about everything! He conquered his fear of my "Place" cot and worked on getting some distance and duration with that command. He is even starting to go into his kennel on command and anticipating his "food manners" when I pull his bowl out. He did have a little bit of stomach upset today, nothing to be overly concerned about, but I do have my eye on him!

Check out this guys no leash direction Heel! We did a bunch of short sessions today really hammering in Winstons Recall and Heel commands. He is not only starting to really get them, but is also starting to get excited about doing them! My favorite moment of the day was his first really perfect happy recall. He was sniffing some grass, I asked him to "Come", he was a little confused for a moment, and then it clicked! He ran to me around my back and slammed his booty to the ground so fast he almost fell backwards! He has a ton of energy, but it is so much fun!

Mr. Winston made a friend today! He got to socialize with my Nico. He is a very appropriate player. We did work on his barking a bit, he gets quite vocal when he is excited! We worked on his Heel in an evening session, which is coming along great! He is still having some tummy problems, they had ceased for a bit but today he had some more issues. I went ahead and added some rice and sweet potato to his dinner to see if that will help. He is such a sweet boy!

Winston is doing well! His tummy is still a bit unsettled so I went ahead and gave him rice with boiled chicken today to see if that would help settle him. Otherwise he is coming along awesome! He is fantastic about his kennel, did most of his morning lesson without lead direction with Nico running around as a distraction, and did his recall video for you guys with a bunch of skateboarders behind him! The video is intended to give you a bit of background on his Recall, see it while it is still "in progress" and show you how I practice it to get it sharp looking so you can do so in future! Do let me know if you have any questions!

Nico thinks Winstons jokes are pretty funny!

Winston practiced a little of everything at the shopping center today! He is doing just about everything without any leash direction at all! I am so proud of how far he has already come in his first week!

Winston is looking so sharp! We practiced a bit of everything and got some serious duration/distance on all his commands today. His tummy has settled with the chicken and rice, he is playing super well with Mr. Nico, and is even going into his kennel on command throughout the day!

Winston is starting to get some serious distance and duration with his commands! He had a really good session at the park and I am so proud of everything he is learning!

Winston filmed a video on his Place command today! We are getting close to filming his final video and he is looking so good!

Pupdate 09/23/2020

Winston worked hard on perfecting some more advanced displays of his commands today and even helped me teach the new trainee a few things! He advanced his understanding of his "Place" command that we went over with you yesterday by starting to learn how to transition from one "Place" to another!

Pupdate 09/24/2020

Winston is all ready to film his final video over the next couple days! We worked on making a few things a little cleaner today and then did some practice walking and working with Jonesy in public. He did some serious distance/duration Sits/Downs with me walking Jonesy all around him. He also heeled with Jonesy a bit to get him used to walking with another dog around! He is also back to eating his normal food with no tummy issues!

Winston is such a happy boy these days! He is just having so much fun bouncing his way from one command to another! He helped me make an instructional on his Sit/Down and Heel commands. Let me know if you have any questions!

Winston is all packed up and ready to go home in the morning! I am so proud of how far he has come in the last two weeks and can't wait for his parents to see how much he has learned!
