Luna, a Great Dane from Long Beach, CA went through the Balanced Canine Training SoCal Board & Train dog training program. Luna was trained by dog trainer Amanda Lascari in La Habra Heights, CA.
Luna, a 5 month old Great Dane, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our 3 week board and train program. Luna is a very sweet and docile girl who comes to us with typical puppy behavior: little knowledge of commands, pulling on the leash, peeing from excitement, etc. Over the next 3 weeks Luna will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Today I introduced and conditioned Luna to the ecollar. The first day I like to start off with treats that way Luna associates the collar as good thing. Luna has adapted to it pretty well, feeling the stimulation on low numbers which is great! In the video you see me holding out a treat away from me, Luna looks at it, I say her name and press the stimulation button. When Luna looks to me, I give her the treat. I want her to associate to collar to me. I want her to learn that focusing on me gets rewarded. After conditioning her to the collar, we practiced the Place command. Place is a command where Luna must sit or lay on an object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching Luna to be calm and relaxed. This command was actually really to teach her. She hopped right on to the cot, no problem. Luna did well, even with her friends distracting her. She did a great job on her first day of training!

We didn't let the rain stop us from training and having fun! Today Luna and I practiced her commands whenever the rain would stop. We started working on the Down command. She had fun playing with her friends in the rain. After play time she was ready to be dried off and wrapped up in a warm blanket.

Today Luna and I went to the park to work on her commands. She was a little distracted at first, since it was some place new. We practiced all her commands. She tried the place commands on some new objects like the park table. Luna was hesitant at first, but after I helped her up a few times she started hop right up all by herself.

Sorry for the late delay in post. The app was giving me issues. Luna and I worked on her commands at home. She is doing a great job! I almost ready to unclip her leash! Just a need to tighten up a few things and then she will be ready.

Today Luna and I worked on her commands around the neighborhood. i am no longer holding the leash and i am able to walk away, father than the length of the leash, while Luna holds her commands.

Today Luna and I worked on her commands around the neighborhood. Since she did such a great job, I treated her with a lamb stick. I have upped the amount on her food, so Luna can put some more meat on her bones. I looked up to see how much a 5 month Great Dane should weigh, which range from 60-85lbs. I know she is on the smaller side, so I would like to get her a little chunky, specially since Luna has been very active while being with me. I have not had an issue with her not eating. I think her meal times are her favorite times of the day. When Luna hears me grab the dog bowls, she is the first one at my side waiting to eat.

Today Luna and I worked on her Canine Good Citizen requirements. In order to get her canine good citizen certificate, she must pass all 10 requirements.

Luna joined some new friends, in Beverly Hills, to work on her off leash obedience. She did a great job today!

Today Luna and her friend, Goldy, joined me out to lunch. I took them to my family's restaurant where they worked on duration down. Luna did pretty good; she got up once or twice. After we practiced her off leash commands around the neighborhood.

Sorry for the delay in posts, having issues with uploading again. Today Luna and I worked on her off leash obedience at home. We practiced sharpening up her heel with the weaving poles. She did pretty good, even with her friends distracting her. We worked on her food manners and door manners as well.

Today Luna and I spent the day out in Hollywood. Luna practiced all her off leash commands in high distractions. She did an amazing job!

today Luna and I went to the park to work on her off leash commands. She got a bath today, but it didnt last too long. Luna has done an awesome job with her training! She can’t wait to go home and show you all she has learned!
