Second day of heeling practice. Hobbes is getting much better, has decided that working on the right hand side is better for him (literally kept walking back to the right). Sit is still a very stubborn command for Hobbes; that will be focus number two.

Big day for Hobbes, went for a long three mile walk. Hobbes heeled the entire way stopping at every corner and asked to sit. Hobbes is not a fan of the sit for some reason, he did however like the down when we arrived at the coffee shop.

What do you do when the trainer says "down?" Hobbes worked hard in the morning and decided he needed a break in the afternoon. Headed back out before it gets too warm.

While the heel isn't much to write home about, I discovered that I hadn't connected the collar and remote. This means that, while I made a rookie level error, Hobbes was OFF LEASH HEELING by verbal commands only!!! So happy with Hobbes

While this may not seem like a big deal, this is Hobbes' first time really giving me something close to a down. On the third one he nearly rolls on his tummy, which isn't what I'm looking for, but minor victories need to be celebrated.

Hobbes first trip to Starbucks OFF LEASH. On the patio the leash goes back on, but he walked in heel the entire way with no leash. Did very well!

Big trip to Lowes for Hobbes. We were all off leash the entire time; no problems to report. Looking at the photographs Hobbes seems stiff or tense. He will go out in public, but he really would rather be at home.

So, the beach was to test how Hobbes is getting along with others. I know he had an incident in WLA at a dog park, but Hobbes has been nothing but wonderful for me- both in and out of my home. Hobbes did heel, all off leash, for 7.3 miles yesterday. He slept from when he got in my car until about 4PM.
