Meet Finn! He's an eight month old Golden Retriever/Lab mix from Los Angeles, California here for our Two-Week Board and Train Program! He's very friendly and outgoing, but he likes to bark at new people, and he loves to jump on everyone. He also pulls on his leash and has some difficulty following basic commands. Over the next fourteen days, we'll show Finn how to behave on and off leash, how to properly greet people, and help him become the best pup he can possibly be. Stay tuned for Finn's two week transformation!

After picking up Finn, we stayed at Cheviot Hills to walk around and get to know each other. Finn is very sweet and he seems to already respond well to the Sit command. He is very strong and loves to pull on his leash, but otherwise we had a great time! When we got home, I let Finn sniff around the house and got him settled in. He's very playful and likes to jump on me, which we will work on, but for now I'm glad he's adjusting well!

Finn went to Maple Park for his first full day of training! We started working on his Sit and Heel commands. He already knew how to sit fairly well, but I'd like to work on his responsiveness to the command and have him hold his sit position for longer periods of time. For Heel, I want Finn to walk nicely at my left side with his ears at my knee. Finn loves to pull, so this one is a little more difficult for him, but he's starting to get it nonetheless! In the above video, you can see Finn Heeling with me, and he does a good job, although he pulls and jumps a few times throughout the video. When Finn tries to jump on me, I use the Off command, as well as a low stimulation using his E collar. Finn's leash manners progressed very well today, and I'm excited to continue working with him going forward!

Finn went to Citadel Outlets today for training. His Heel is coming along nicely! The Outlets weren't very crowded today, but even with the limited crowd, Finn sometimes got distracted. He did a really good job for his first time there, though! He's starting to be able to hold his Sit for longer, and he only tried to jump on me a couple times all day!

Finn went to Ruben Ingold Parkway today for training! He was very excited to be there! His Heel is getting really good, and we worked on a new command today! For Come To Sit, I want Finn to come to my right side, walk around my legs and sit at my left side with his ears at my knee. He's doing well with this one so far. After, Finn went home for a quick nap, and then we went to the park by my house! He's had quite a full day.

Finn and I went to Montebello Mall today for training! He did a great job there. Today was also the first day he didn't try to jump on me at all! I'm glad he's progressing in that regard. He also started working on a new command. The place command! For Place, I want Finn to hop onto a raised object, such as a bench, and remain there until I release him from command. He didn't have much trouble on the normal benches, but it took a few tries for him to gain the courage to jump onto the slightly higher ledge inside the mall. After he got up there once, though, he was doing it every time without hesitation! He just needed to figure out he could do it! Great job, Finn!

Finn went to Del Amo Fashion Center today for training! He was very enthusiastic and ready to go today! In the above video, you can see Finn practicing Place. He's doing well with it, and I love his energy! We also started working on his Down command! Finn has been pretty good at Down, but it's always great to work on his responsiveness, and his ability to hold the position!

Finn went to Almansor Park today for training! We had a fun day, even though it was a bit wet for some of it. We started working on Finn's commands with his leash dragging. This gives me some idea of how he might perform off leash while still having access to the leash should I need it. There were times when he got distracted by some pigeons, but he stayed responsive and attentive most of the day! Great job, Finn!

Finn and I went to Reseda Park today for training! He continued working with his leash dragging. I switched to a smaller leash to further replicate the sensation of being off leash. Finn did well again today! There were more ducks and birds around the pond and Finn definitely still got distracted by them, but he still managed to perform each of his commands!

Finn and I went to Almansor Park today for training! He was fully off leash today! He did an amazing job with his commands. He earned a lot of playtime after we worked! The next step is to increase the distractions while he's off leash. I believe he'll do a good job, as there were a lot of distractions around today, like other dogs, geese and ducks.

Finn and I went to Home Depot today to avoid the rainy weather. He was off leash for some of the day and behaved well on and off leash! It's clear Finn enjoys our outdoor time much more, but he still had a good day! There were a fair amount of people moving carts, and noises from forklifts, but Finn didn't seem to mind them very much. I think he actually got more distracted the last few days around birds!

Finn and I went to Montebello Mall today for training! He did well there, and managed to mostly remain calm and collected while we were inside. For his pupdate today, I wanted to show one of the household manners we've been working on! For Finn's food manners, I want Finn to wait patiently when I place food on the floor, and not rush to the food before I release him from command. He's done a good job with this! I can tell from the way he glances down at the food occasionally that this is tough for him. So good job, Finn!

Finn went to Pan Pacific Park today! He did well off leash, but it was definitely a challenge for him. This park always has many off leash dogs running around playing, and it was tough for Finn to resist the urge to run and play with them. He did it, though! He stayed close to me and was able to perform each of his commands reliably!

Finn went to the Santa Monica Pier today for training! He did a good job on and off leash. Despite the large crowds and dogs all around us, Finn's biggest weakness was the pigeons. He got distracted by birds a couple of times, but generally did a really great job with all of his commands! For his video today, I wanted to show Finn's door manners. For door manners, I want Finn to wait patiently when I open the door, without trying to rush out before me. We practice this each time we leave or enter my home, so he's getting pretty good at it!

Finn went to Almansor Park for his last full day of training! He really likes this park so we went back one last time before he goes home. He's made many improvements while he's been with me and I'm very proud of him! He's an extremely sweet pup and I'll be sad to see him go home tomorrow.
