Dak | French Bulldog | El Monte, CA | In-Training

Meet Dak! He is a 2.5 year old French Bulldog from El Monte, CA. He will be joining us for our 3-Week Board and Train Program. He is very loving, playful, and social. Some concerning behaviors include running out the front door, inconsistent obedience, leash manners, and accidents in the house. Stay tuned for his 3-week transformation.

Today was the first day of training for Dak. In this session, we focused on building trust and introducing basic commands. We introduced him to the Off, Break, Come to sit, and Extended sit commands. We had a great first session and I could see the trust-building between us as a team!

One of Dak’s sessions took place at the park. In this session, we focused on continuing to build a strong foundation in the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, and Heel commands. He did show some reactivity towards birds that would land near our training area. He did however overcome this and get right back to training. I’m happy to see his personality start to come out. He had a great day of training!

One of Dak’s sessions took place at the park. We continued focusing on building a strong foundation in the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Down, Extended down, and Heel commands. He did break command a few times trying to chase squirrels and birds. We worked through those distractions and he showed great progress. Nonetheless, he had another great day of training!

One of Dak’s sessions took place at the park. We continued focusing on building a strong foundation in the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Down, Extended down, and Heel commands. Today he seemed less motivated to train. It challenged me to find different ways to motivate him. He did overcome this and still had a great training session. His reactivity was much better today and I’m very proud of his progress. Another great day of training!

One of Dak’s sessions took place at the Home Depot. We continued focusing on building a strong foundation in the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Down, Extended down, and Heel commands. This environment brought many new smells, sounds, people, and dogs. Dak seemed much more excited and engaged in training today. He seemed to really enjoy exploring Home Depot and meeting new people. We also worked on Car, Guest, Food, and Door manners today. Another great day of training!

One of Dak’s sessions today took place at a park. There were many distractions as many were at the park celebrating Easter. There were many people, dogs, and fireworks all around us. We continued building a strong understanding in the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Down, Extended down, Place, and Heel commands on and off-leash. Dak was very distracted by the surrounding environmental distractions and at times refused to train. They were great learning experiences for both of us as a team to work through. We also worked on Car, Guest, Food, and Door manners today. Another great day of training!

One of Dak’s sessions today took place at a Home Depot. It was a busy day which brought on many distractions. We continued focusing on having a strong understanding in the Off, Break, Come to sit, Extended sit, Place, Down, Extended down, and Heel commands on loose-leash. I had Dak on a 30ft leash trying to establish if he was ready to be off-leash. Unfortunately he broke command attempting to go in the opposite direction. After that experience, I think for safety reasons we will continue using loose leash and the 30ft leash as he earns my trust that he can perform without being reactive or running away. Otherwise he had a great day with following commands on loose-leash. He is showing progress daily and I’m proud of him for that.

One of Dak’s sessions today took place at my residence. We focused on all learned obedience as well as Door manners. Dak did a great job with impulse control and patiently awaiting further instructions. When we first began training he would dash out the front door. I’m very proud of his daily progress and growth.

One of Dak’s sessions today took place at my residence. We focused on all learned obedience as well as Food refusal. Dak did well with training today. We walked around the neighborhood and he did very well walking loose-leash. He stayed engaged in training and wasn’t reactive towards other dogs and cats we encountered. He sat next to me awaiting further instructions. We also worked on his Car and Greeting manners. Overall he had a great day and shows great progress daily. Very proud of him!

One of Dak’s sessions today took place around my neighborhood. We focused on all learned obedience in a neighborhood setting loose leash. I do not believe at this time Dark is ready to be off leash. He’s getting there yet still a little unpredictable. When he is loose leash, he follows all commands. He shows progress daily and we will continue working to get him. His safety is my priority so he will need to earn my trust that he can perform consistently without breaking commands and starting to walk in random directions. We also worked on Food, Car, Door, and Greeting manners. Another great day of training!
