When Shannon was little, one of her attributes was luring home stray cats and trying to rescue lost dogs. She has always loved animals of all types and in fact her dream was to become a veterinarian. Caring and helping is what motivated her through the years. Shannon got her first dog when she was sixteen years old when she learned how to teach basic obedience and trick train on her own. Once she finished college with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and emphasis in multiple subjects… little did she know that her passion for kids and dogs would soon find the same path.

For the last fifteen years Shannon has been professionally training dogs. She found a philosophy after being professionally trained and certified as a Master dog Trainer that suited her nature for working with children and dogs. Much like human children, dogs need structure, boundaries on their behavior, and supervision in order to thrive and keep them from being hurt or hurting others. There is no cookie-cutter formula for training dogs or raising a child. Every dog is unique and shouldn’t only be compared to the next or previously owned dog. Her training philosophy is about patience while using positive reinforcement with a modified correction. The dog should be rewarded for the good behavior and reminded that the “bad” behavior should be replaced with a positive command. Through praise and food reward in the early steps, the dog will easily understand what behavior is to be expected of them and the modified corrections to discourage unwanted behavior. Rewards maintain the motivation to build a positive human-animal bond.
