Meet Zori!

Zori is a four-year-old female German Shepherd who just joined us for our two-week Urban Board and Train Program. She’s a bright, energetic girl with a big personality and plenty of potential, and we’re excited to get to work with her. Right now, Zori struggles with jumping when greeting people, selective listening—following commands when she feels like it—and a general lack of consistent manners in everyday situations. Like many intelligent working breeds, she thrives on structure, clarity, and accountability. Over the next two weeks, we’ll be focusing on building reliable obedience, reinforcing calm and polite greetings, ensuring she follows through on commands the first time they’re given, and teaching her that expectations apply everywhere, not just when it’s convenient. With consistency and clear communication, we’re confident Zori will rise to the occasion and develop the focus and manners she’s fully capable of. Stay tuned for her progress.

Zori’s first day of training was focused on assessing her baseline ability and establishing clear communication. We evaluated her responsiveness to basic obedience commands, her impulse control, and how she handles structure and guidance. As expected, she tests boundaries and follows commands more consistently when it suits her, but today gave us a solid starting point to build from.

We also introduced the concept of pressure and, more importantly, how to relieve it. Zori began learning that calm, correct decisions turn pressure off, while resistance or distraction keeps it on. This foundational lesson is critical for clarity and fairness in training. She showed good moments of understanding once she slowed down and focused, and we’ll continue reinforcing this so she clearly understands how to succeed.

Zori is such a sweet, sweet girl with a big personality to match. She can definitely be a bit wild at times — lots of energy, lots of opinions — but underneath it all she truly wants to connect and figure things out.

We’ve been working on helping her slow her brain down and learn how to follow direction consistently instead of making her own choices in the moment. She’s starting to understand that structure doesn’t take away her fun — it actually helps her succeed. The more clarity she gets, the more you can see her settle and focus.

She’s still got that playful spark, but it’s being shaped into something productive. With continued guidance and consistency, that big energy is turning into controlled, purposeful behavior. She’s a fun one to work with, and she’s making steady progress every day.

Zori is continuing to show just how smart she is. She’s not naturally a fan of the Down command, so we’ve been spending extra time building clarity and consistency there. We’re focusing on having her hold the Down calmly and confidently, even when it’s not her first choice.

This process is about gently pushing her comfort zone while keeping expectations fair and structured. She’s learning that the Down command isn’t optional and that staying committed to it leads to success.

Overall, she’s responding well, thinking through the work, and showing steady progress. Very smart girl, and she’s doing well.

Zori continues to prove what a good girl she is. She’s settling into the routine nicely and showing that she really wants to learn. With each session she’s gaining a better understanding of what’s being asked of her, and you can see the improvement building step by step. Her focus is getting better, her responses are becoming more consistent, and she’s starting to think through the work instead of just reacting.

It’s been great to watch her confidence grow as the sessions go on. Each time we train she picks things up a little faster and shows more willingness to follow direction. She still has some learning ahead of her, but the progress she’s making is very clear, and she continues to improve with every session. She’s working hard and doing a great job.

Zori had a really good day and brought lots of energy and enthusiasm to everything we did. She’s a fun girl with a big personality and has been eager to stay engaged and involved throughout the day. She continues to learn more each session and is showing nice progress as we keep building on the basics. Her stool was a bit loose, so we’re just holding food for 24 hours to let her stomach reset. Other than that small thing, she’s doing great and had a very good day.

Zori | German Shepherd | Pupdate 3/7/2026

Zori has officially wrapped up her first week with us, and she’s doing very well. It’s been great getting to know her this week—she’s a sweet girl with a really nice personality, and she’s quickly become a favorite to have around. She’s settling into the routine nicely and continuing to learn what’s expected of her each day.

Her training has been going very well so far. She’s starting to understand the structure and direction we’re giving her, and with each session she’s becoming a little more thoughtful and responsive. It’s always nice to see that progress start to click, and she’s showing that she’s more than capable of learning and improving as we move into the second week.

We gave her stomach a chance to rest by holding food for 24 hours, and she’s been staying well hydrated. We’ll begin gradually reintroducing light, gentle foods like white rice and pumpkin purée as she eases back into her normal routine.

Overall she’s doing great, and we’re excited to see what she accomplishes with one more week to go. She’s a really sweet girl and we truly enjoy having her here.

Zori kicked off the first day of her second and final week of training today and did great. She’s working hard, staying engaged, and picking things up quickly. It’s nice to see things starting to click for her as she continues to understand what’s being asked.

You can see her moving smoothly from one command to another, and her transitions are becoming much more fluid as her understanding improves. She’s putting in the effort and it really shows in her work.

Also good news—her poop is back to normal, so everything is looking good on that front too. Looking forward to a really nice second week with this sweet girl.

Zori had another really nice day and continues to work hard. She’s staying engaged during her sessions and showing a lot of effort as we keep building on everything she’s learned so far. It’s great to see her understanding grow and her responses becoming more consistent.

Today she spent time working around lots of other dogs, practicing staying focused and following direction even with plenty of distractions around. She handled it well and kept putting in the effort, which is nice to see. Zori is a sweet girl and it’s been great watching her progress each day.

Zori had a fun outing today and got to enjoy a pup cup while we were out grabbing coffee. The trip wasn’t just for the treat though — it gave us a good opportunity to start integrating her commands into everyday situations outside the house.

While we were there, we worked through her obedience around the normal activity of a coffee shop environment. Zori practiced staying engaged and following direction with people moving around, sounds, and distractions nearby. She did a nice job focusing back in and working through her commands even with everything going on around her.

These kinds of small outings help her start understanding that the same expectations apply everywhere, not just during structured sessions. She handled it well today and continues to build more consistency each time we work with her.

Zori is coming down the final stretch of her program, and this week we’ve really been tightening up all of her commands. We’re focusing on sharpening the little details—cleaner positions, quicker responses, and making sure everything she’s learned is consistent and reliable. She’s showing a lot of maturity in her work and is really starting to understand what’s expected of her.

We’re also beginning to prepare for filming her final video, which means putting all of her skills together and making sure she can perform them clearly and confidently. The goal right now is polishing everything so that when she goes home, her owner has a solid foundation to continue building on.

Zori has come a long way during her time here. She’s a fun dog to work with and brings great energy to each session. She’s eager to work, enjoys the structure, and continues to show improvement every day as we integrate her commands into real-world situations.

One thing we’re keeping an eye on is her stomach. After transitioning back onto her Beneful kibble, her stomach issues have returned. Because of that, we’ll be switching her back to a simple diet of white rice, pumpkin puree, and chicken to let things settle again before moving forward. She’s staying hydrated and otherwise feeling good, and we’ll continue monitoring closely while keeping her training sessions productive and positive.

We’re proud of the progress she’s made and excited to show everything she’s learned as we get ready to film her final video and send her home ready to continue her journey with her owner.

Zori | German Shepherd | Pupdate 3/13/2026

Zori has been putting in some really solid work lately, and the focus right now is tightening up all the little details in her training. She already understands her commands well, so our sessions have been about sharpening everything—cleaner positions, quicker responses, and making sure she stays locked in from start to finish.

We’ve been weaving training into everyday moments instead of just formal sessions. Whether we’re out and about or just moving through the day, Zori is expected to stay engaged and responsive. She’s been doing a great job of keeping that focus and showing that she understands the expectations no matter the environment.

One thing that stands out about Zori is how willing she is to work. When it’s time to train, she steps right into it and gives you her full attention. You can see the pieces coming together more and more each day.

We’re getting close to the point where we’ll be filming her final video, so right now it’s all about polishing everything and making sure she’s ready to go home and continue the journey with her owner. She’s been a really fun dog to work with and it’s been great watching her progress.

Zori | German Shepherd | Pupdate 3/14/2026

Zori is wrapping up her time with us and getting ready to head home tomorrow. She’s learned a whole lot during her stay, and it’s been great watching her grow more confident and polished with each passing day.

Over the course of her program we’ve worked hard on building clear communication and reliable obedience. Zori has really stepped up to the plate, learning how to stay focused, hold her positions, and move with purpose when she’s working. She’s started putting all the pieces together and showing a much better understanding of what’s being asked of her.

She’s also done well learning how to carry those commands into everyday situations, staying engaged and responsive even when there are distractions around. That kind of consistency is what really makes the training stick.

Zori has been a sweet girl to have around, and we’re proud of the progress she’s made. Tomorrow she’ll head home with a strong foundation and plenty of tools to keep building on with her owner as their training journey continues.
