Zombie | 8 Months Old | German Shepherd | Artesia ,CA | In Training

Pupdate 03/22/2020

Zombie is 8 month old German Shepherd who's excitement levels are off the charts! He is a big leash puller and has trouble focusing and holding his commands. He is with us for two weeks to start practicing manners and obedience. Can't wait to get started!

Zombie took some time getting used to the E-Collar but is starting to respect it more and stop trying to bully his way out of listening to commands. He definitely is a stubborn guy so it takes a lot of patience when working with Zombie.

Zombie out on our walk today starting to lighten up. He is more open to following commands after you get some of that early morning energy out of his system. He is starting to understand what is expected of him and learning that pulling and jumping around on the leash doesn't get him out of listening to commands.

Zombie has had a pretty upset stomach since the sudden change in his diet so he is fighting off a pretty bad case of diarrhea. Aside from the upset stomach his training is coming along and he is really starting to calm down and focus after we get some of his wild young pup energy out.

Enjoying some sun after our loose leash walk today. Zombie was able to heel with the leash strapped to my waist and with me using minimal leash handling. You have to lead the walk otherwise zombie will definitely try to lead it for you so staying in charge during walks is key for this stubborn guy.

Working on the place command more today. Zombie showed that he is actually afraid of heights when it comes to placing on a not very high object. He was shaking once he got on this rock so I gave him a break pretty quickly to let him get off.

Today I learned that Zombie is not a huge fan of water. Just trying to splash him with a bit of it to cool him off after our long walk did not fly with him so we stopped that. He is however getting much better at heeling without pushing or pulling. Also improving in staying relaxed around distractions like fellow dog walkers or squirrels running around us on our walk.

More street distractions today. Zombie did well at ignoring the cars but was fairly spooked by the man who rode by on a bike. He fell back into heeling and in command quickly.

Zombie and Nya on a group walk today before dinner. Zombie got to play a bit with his Co classmate as well as meet baby kylo and another puppy German Shepherd we met on our walk.

Some downtime after a long hard lesson and some filming at the park today. Zombie continues to show progress with every passing day. Although he's still a big ball of energy, with the use of an E-Collar and consistency he can be managed.

Working off leash everything toaday t the park Zombie can be very impressive when he is in the right working state of mind. It just takes some exercise to break through that wild puppy energy first.
