Winter | Cattle Dog Mix | Los Angeles, CA | In-Training

Winter, an eight month old Cattle Dog Mix, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Winter comes to us knowing some commands but not always obeying them. She pulls on the leash while walking, jumps to greet, play bites, and is easily distracted. Over the Two weeks Winter will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Winter is settling in well at my home. She is having a blast with all her new doggie friends. She has been running around and playing nonstop since she got here.

Today Winter and I went to the park to work on her commands. I introduced and conditioned her to the Ecollar. We practiced commands Sit, Place, And Down. Place is a command where Winter must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be calm and relaxed. In the beginning you can see she was a little terrified of the dog cot (not sure why, since her bed is a cot), but once she realized it was safe Winter hopped onto it with ease. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Winter had plenty of dog distractions to work around. She had a great first day of training!

Today Winter and I went to the park to work on her commands. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs so Winter could practice around more dog distractions. We practiced more of her Sit, Place, and Down commands. We also started working on her Heel and Come to Sit. Heel is still a work in progress, but she is walking much better. When Winter tries to throw a few antrumā€™s when she didnā€™t want to listen anymore, but I made sure she followed through with all her commands.

Today Winter and I went to the park to work on her commands. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so we could practice more around dog distractions. Winter practiced her commands semi off leash today. I let her drag the leash around while we trained. She did pretty well. We need to tighten up some of her commands and then she will be ready to work off leash.

Today Winter and I worked on her obedience around the neighborhood. She was being a bit stubborn today and not wanting to listen. I made sure she followed through with her commands. After some repetition, Winter started to behave and follow her commands.

Today Winter and I went to the mall to work on her obedience around distractions. It was very busy, so Winter was a little anxious with all the commotion. As we walked around and worked on her obedience, she was able to relax and focus on me. We worked semi off leash. She had quite a few admirers stop to watch her train.

Today I took Winter and her buddy, Buckley, to the park to work on their commands. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so she had other dog distractions to work around. Winter did great around the other dogs, ignoring them and following her commands. The only struggle she had was with staying in the down command. She trying to get up and follow me when I would walk away from her.

Today, Winter and I went to the mall to work on her off leash obedience around distractions. She did a great job! She was focused and obedient. She spent the rest of her day playing and socializing with her friends before she goes home tomorrow. I gave her a bath so she could be nice and clean when she sees you, but she wrestled around with her buddies getting all dirty again. Winter canā€™t wait to go home and show you everything she has learned!
