Victory, a six month old Doberman Pinscher, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Three Week Board and Train program. Victory comes to us with typical puppy behavior: little knowledge of commands, being easily distracted, not properly walking on a leash, mouthiness, and eating things off the floor she’s not suppose to. Over the next three weeks Victory will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Victory is setting in well at my home. She a little shy meeting some of her new friends, especially her training buddy, Koko the Tibetan Mastiff, but she has warmed up the them and following them around. She was nervous about getting on the scale to get her weight, so didn’t try to force her. Once we start her training and she builds more trust with me, I’ll get her to hop on the scale.

Today Victory and I worked on her training at home. I introduced and conditioned her to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit, Down, and Place. Place is a command where Victory must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be calm and relaxed.
Victory did great in her kennel last night. She didn’t make a sound. She did let me know that she was ready for her breakfast. She has fully settled in and become more comfortable around me and my pack.

You weren't joking that Victory loves carrots. She smelled my carrot/orange juice and kept trying to steal the bottle from me. She was happy after I gave her a cap full to taste.

Today Victory and I went to Lowes to work on her obedience commands. We were able to work semi-off leash! I let her drag the leash around while we practiced. She did pretty well, but is still not quite ready to be completely off leash. She was bit nervous with all the commotion going on around us. The more I take her out in public and work her through her nervousness, Victory will start becoming more confident.

In the video you can see she’s a bit nervous with the noise and commotion going on around us, but she still followed through with her commands. She got a lot of compliments on how well behaved she is! We are still working on her greeting manners. You can see Victory’s still shy when people come up to greet her, so I allow her to go up to them if she is interested.
