Meet Tito! A six month old Husky German Shepard Mix from North Hollywood Ca! Tito has joined us for our One Week Puppy Board and Train Program. Tito is with us because his owners want to get him a head start in life, along with teaching Tito proper manners when meeting new people and when guests come over to visit. Tito will also get proper puppy socialization with other dogs, as well as socialization in public areas such as shopping malls and parks. Tune in to watch Tito's progress over the next week!

Today after picking up Tito from his owners, we immediately started our first session! I introduced leash pressure to Tito along with having him jump on different objects at the park such as benches and tables! Along from confidence building we did engagement training around distractions from kids from the playground and other dogs walking by. Tomorrow Tito and I will start our first session of introduction to ecollar!

Today for our first session, we worked on my front drive way. We used the noise from the street as distraction for Tito. Today we focused on ecollar introduction, teaching Tito what the ecollar stimulation means and how to properly shut that feeling off. Tito is doing a great job at responding to the ecollar, today all I was asking from Tito was to come into my space whenever he felt it. Once I noticed that he started to pick that up, I started to add ask for sit with the ecollar tool as well along with rewarding him with freeze dried turkey treats as well!

Today for our afternoon session we worked on my drive way again , using the sounds from the street as distractions for us. Today we focused on pairing the ecollar with leash pressure for all of Tito’s commands. At times you can see him being stubborn and ignoring the stimulation from the ecollar along with leash pressure. But with patience and consistency Tito started to pick up things quicker and quicker!

Today Tito and I met up with the Offleash SoCal team at a local park in Los Angeles Ca! Today Tito and I focused on all of his obedience commands around distractions. We worked though dogs barking at us, squirrels, along with other dogs at the park. Tito is also doing a great job at holding his durations for the down command! We will continue to add more and more distractions to Tito’s training!

Today Tito and I took a field trip to a Local outdoor mall in Los Angeles Ca! We focused on working through distractions at the mall. We worked on all of his commands , one thing I did notice is that he needs to tighten up on his heel command. The rest of today and tomorrow I will be focusing on his heel command in public areas. Tito also at times knows to use his teeth whenever he’s frustrated or is obsessing over a toy or food. Whenever he does that , I simply just use to ecollar on a higher number to show him that behavior is not acceptable whatsoever. However a correction needs to be done within a second and a second in a half or else Tito won’t know what he did wrong, it’s always best to correct them in the moment.

Today Tito and I had a session of training on my driveway, using my personal puppy Kisa as a distraction. Kisa and Tito love playing together, they are both around the same age. Tito and I worked on all of his on leash obedience commands. We focused more on his “come to sit” command the most. Tito and I also had some training at a local outlet in Los Angeles today to desensitize the environment around Tito while we work on our commands.
