Teddy | German Shepherd | Murrieta, CA | In-Training

Teddy, a one year old German Shepherd, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Teddy a gentle giant who loves getting all the attention. He comes to us with lack of following commands, easily distracted, leash pulling, jumping to greet, being mouthy, etc. Over the two weeks Teddy will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Teddy has settled in well at my home. He is enjoying all his new doggie friends. Teddy has been running around and playing since he got here.

Today I introduced and conditioned Teddy to the ecollar. We worked on his obedience at home. We tried our best to work out of the rain, but there was a little drizzle. We practiced commands Sit and Place. Place is a command where Teddy must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching him to be calm and relaxed. He did great on his first day of training. Teddy is having a blast with all his new buddies! He did not make it easy for me to put in his eye drops.

Today Teddy and I went to the park to work on his commands. We practiced Sit and Place. We worked on a new command today, Heel. Heel is still a work in progress but Teddy is walking a lot better now. He is waking at my side and not trying to drag me around.

Today Teddy and I worked on his commands around the neighborhood. We added on 3 new commands today: Come to Sit, Come to Heel, and Down. Come to Heel is a little bit tricky, but Teddy has caught on very fast to all his commands. We practiced duration work, holding his commands longer.

Today I took Teddy to Lowes to work on his commands around distractions. We practiced his commands semi-off leash. I let him drag the leash around while we practiced his commands. Teddy did pretty well! With more practice he will be ready to start working completely off leash.

Today Teddy and I went to The Grove to work on his off leash obedience around high distractions. We met with a few other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs to work around dog distractions. Teddy was definitely distracted by the other dogs and water to say hi to each of them. We practiced and worked through it and Teddy was able to ignore the dogs and follow his commands.
