Teddi, a three year old Rottweiler, joined OffLeash SoCal for our one week board and train program. Teddi is a rescue. Her owner says she hasn’t been socialized a whole lot, so she’s is a bit unsure of new people or dogs. Teddi needs some work on her obedience. focus, and leash walking. Over the next week Teddi will be working on her on leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Teddi has settled in well at my home. She was able to meet and socialize with my pack. She did very well, better than I anticipated. She is unsure of the other dogs and isn’t interested in playing, but Teddi is able to be around them.
Pupdate 11/28/2021
Today Teddi and I worked on her obedience at home. I introduced and conditioned her to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit, Down, and Place. Place is a command Where Teddi must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching h to be calm and relaxed. Teddi has warmed up to the pack and being more social. She was initiating play, running around and chasing the other dogs.

Today Teddi and I went to the park to work on her commands. She was very distracted when we first got there, but as I worked her through her commands she became more focused. We practiced Sit, Down, and Place. We started working on the Heel command today. It is still a work in progress, but Teddi is walking much better now. She is staying at my side and pulling less.

Today Teddi and I worked on her obedience around the neighborhood. She is a smart girl and knows what I’m asking of her, but she can be stubborn when she wants to. Down is the only command Teddi likes to give me a hard time with. When she doesn’t want to follow the command, she’ll throw a little fit or she will lay down then flip onto her back and just stare at me upside down. We are going to keep practicing it until it’s her favorite command to do. Teddi is doing good socializing and getting along with the pack.

Today Teddi and I went to Lowe’s to work on her obedience around distractions. She was little distracted when we first got there, but as we walked around she calmed down and was able to focus on her training. We are getting better at the Down command, giving me less of a struggle.

Teddi and I went to the Block at Orange to work on her commands around distractions. She did very well heeling around all the people and other dogs. She started to get reactive to a dog that was barking at her, but once I corrected her she stopped. She was giving me a hard time with her downs today, trying to be pushy and resist laying down. We worked through it until she gave in and started obeying.

Today Teddi and I went to Huntington Beach to work on her obedience around distractions. She did very well today. She stayed focused and ignored all the people and dog distractions that we passed. Teddi can’t wait to go home tomorrow and show you everything she has learned!
