Soxy| Maltipoo | Long Beach, CA| In-Training

Meet Soxy, a 10 month old Maltipoo from Long Beach, CA! She will be joining us for a One Week Board and Train Program. Soxy has a tendency to get overly excited when meeting new people, which turns into jumping. Soxy also loves to pull her owners around while on walks. During her time, Soxy will be working on leash manners, basic obedienc, and staying calm around new people! Stay tuned for her One Week Transformation!

Today Soxy and I primarily spent most of the day getting to know each other. We took walks around the neighborhood to let her acclimate to her new surroundings! She was very curious but was not great with walking on a flat collar. She spent most of the time resistant to leash pressure. I believe this is due to her being on a harness. Later on in the day we went to a park and worked primarily on teaching Soxy that leash pressure is not a bad thing! After a few minutes of resisting, she finally got the hang of walking and just following where I would walk! Very good first day for her!

Today Soxy and I primarily worked on building her tolerance to leash pressure! She definitely struggles with having any type of guiding pressure around her neck. Later on we went to a quiet park and worked on introducing place and come. She struggles a bit with getting up on anything slightly higher than herself, but after a little bit of work she got the hang of it quickly!

Today Soxy and I started our morning with a quick walk around the neighborhood! During our walk, We worked on Heel, Down, Come, and Place! Later on we went to a park and worked on Come, Down, Heel, and Sit! Soxy is still struggling with her Come because she gets really excited and wanted to jump on me. To counter her excitement, I use a very mono-toned voice to try and keep her calm! She responded well to my calmer tone! While working on her Down, she sometimes likes to throw tantrums before doing her command. We will also be focusing on higher distractions the next few days!

Today Soxy and I started our morning with a quick training session. We primarily worked on Come, Down, and Heel! She did fairly well and slowly is starting to figure out her commands! Later on we went to a mall close by and continued working on Heel, Down, Come, and Place! She did well and as long as I stayed calm and mono-toned, Soxy usually stayed calm and didn’t get overly excited! It’s very important that when giving Soxy her commands that its given in a calm manner!

Today Soxy and I started our morning with a quick walk around the neighborhood and worked on Heel, Place, Down, and Come! I decided to try and use some treats along with the ecollar to help Soxy learn a bit faster! She was very quick to do her come command! Later we went to the mall and continued exposing her to higher distractions! She did fairly well!!!!

Today Soxy and I started our morning with a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood and worked on finalizing all of her commands! We focused on her sit, down, come, and heel! She was very focused and responsive to each command! Later we went to Century City Mall and worked around higher distractions! She nailed all her commands and even ignored a few dogs passing by! Very proud of her progress and what she has accomplished during her time so far!
