Socks, a five year old Pit Bull Hound Mix, has joined OffLeash Socal for our Three Week Board and Train program. Socks comes to us knowing commands but not always following if distracted, not walking properly on leash, leash reactivity towards other dogs, and being timid around strangers. Over the three weeks Socks will be working on her off leash Iberians manners. Check in to see her progress.

Socks is settling in well at my home. She is getting acquainted with the rest of the pack. She’s a little nervous and not ready to socialize, but once she gets comfortable with her surroundings I know she will warm up to them.

Today Socks and I went to the park to work on her obedience. I introduced and conditioned her to the Ecollar. We practiced commands Sit, Down, and Come. She did very well. Socks was definitely nervous being out in new surroundings, but she was still able to listen and follow through with her commands.

Today Socks and I stayed home for training. We practiced her Sit, Down, and Come commands. We also worked on a new command, Place. She did very well and caught on to the new command quickly. She is still warming up to me, but is still a little timid and shy. She is getting along great with the other dogs.

Today Socks and I went to the park to work on her obedience. We worked on her duration (holding commands longer) and distance (moving farther away from her while on command). Socks and I practiced the Heel command. She did very well and is walking closer at my side.

Today Socks and I went to the park to work on her obedience. We met with other OffLeash trainers and their dogs, so Socks had plenty of dog distractions to work around. She did very well. She showed no reactivity towards the other dogs. She was focused and followed all her commands.

Today Socks and I went to Lowes to work on her obedience around distractions. She did a great job! She was a little nervous with all the noise around us, but stayed focused and followed all her commands. She greeted a few of the Lowes staff. I could tell she was a little shy, her tail tucked, but she walked right up to them and allowed them to pet her.

Today Socks and I stayed home and worked on her obedience commands. We worked on her duration and distance. Socks is doing an awesome job with her training!

Today Socks and I went to the park to work on her commands. Socks got to practice semi-off leash. I let her drag the leash around while we trained. She did very well. We just need to tighten up a few of her commands and then she will be ready to work completely off leash.

Today Socks and I went to the mall to work on her obedience around distractions and stay out of the heat. We practiced her commands semi-off leash. She was a bit nervous when we first arrived, but as we walked around she relaxed. Luna had a few admirers that watched us train. She allowed one of the security guards to pet and give her affection. Socks did an awesome job today!

Today Socks and I stayed home to train. We practiced all her commands. We started practicing for her Canine Good Citizen Test.
She must pass all ten requirements to receive her certificate.

Today Socks and her friend, Luna, joined me on a shopping spree at the mall. Socks practiced her commands off leash, around all the distractions. She did a great job! She was focused and obedient. Socks assisted me with teaching the puppy how to be well behaved out in public.

Today Socks and I went to the park to work on her off leash obedience. We worked on her distance and duration. I taught her a new command, Under. Well at least I think I did. She did it on the first try without me having to help her. Socks is doing an amazing job with her training!

Today Socks and I went to Lowes to train out of the heat and to work on her off leash obedience around distractions. She did a great job! She was very focused and obedient. Socks received a few compliments on how well behaved she is.

We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Socks had plenty of dog distractions to work around. She did very well. She was focused and obedient, even with other dogs trying to come up to her and say hi.

Today Socks and I went to Huntington Beach to work on her off leash obedience around distractions. She was a bit nervous, but still able to listen and follow her commands. She revue a few compliments on how well behaved she is. Socks did a great job!

Today Socks and her friend, Luna, went to the Citadel Outlet to work on their obedience. Sock worked on all her off leash commands. She did a great job. Socks had a lot of admirers stop and watch her train. She received some compliments on how well behaved she is off leash.

Today Socks and I worked on her commands at home. We also worked on her food manners, door manners, and Loading up. I gave her one of her bones, so we could work on the resource guarding. I walked passed her while she ate the bone, but she didn’t growl or show any signs of trying to guard it.

Today Socks and I went to the park to work on her commands. I took her to a park where I knew there would be lots squirrels and rabbits. She did very well. She didn’t try to chase them. Socks stayed focused and followed all her commands.

Today Socks and I worked on her off leash obedience at home. We worked on her door manners and her canine good citizen requirements. She is doing a great job. I think she will pass her GCG test tomorrow with flying colors!

Today Socks and I went to the park to work on her commands. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Socks had plenty of dog distractions to practice around. Socks took her Canine Good Citizen test and passed! Once we got home, she got a bath and spent the rest of the day playing and socializing with her friends before she goes home tomorrow.
