Meet Shadow! He's a one year old Pomsky from Monterey Park, California here for our One-Week Board and Train Program! Shadow can be fun and playful, but he loves getting into altercations with his brother, especially over toys! He has trouble listening, especially around distractions, and loves barking at any and all distractions! He also needs some help with his potty training! Over the next seven days, we will work with Shadow on his obedience skills and impulse control, help with his manners in and out of the house, and show him how to be the best pup he can possibly be! Stay tuned for Shadow's one week transformation!

After picking up Shadow, we took a little time to hang out at the park and get to know each other. He was a bit hesitant about walking on the leash — not his favorite activity just yet — but with some gentle encouragement and patience, he gave me a few solid Sits, which was a great sign that he’s willing to engage and listen. He’s definitely got potential, and I can already see his sweet personality shining through!
Once we got back home, I let him take his time exploring and sniffing around the space to get comfortable. He was curious but calm, and seemed to settle in pretty quickly. So far, he’s been very sweet and affectionate, and I think he’s starting to trust me. We're building a nice little bond already!
Also worth celebrating — no potty accidents yet! Shadow’s doing okay so far, and I’m excited to spend more time with him and help him feel even more at home.

Shadow had a fun and engaging day at the park today, where we met up with other trainers and their dogs—including his brother, Teddy! The two seemed happy to see each other, and Shadow went right over to greet Teddy with lots of sniffing and interest.
As we started working through commands, both dogs remained fairly polite, though it quickly became clear that Shadow was a bit more inclined to test boundaries. While Teddy was more relaxed and responsive, Shadow was the one pushing the limits a bit more—nothing too dramatic, but enough to suggest that he’ll be the one to keep a closer eye on once they’re both back home together.
We also did some toy play with the boys. Teddy didn’t show much interest, while Shadow briefly chewed on a toy here and there but didn’t stay committed for long. Interestingly, whenever a toy was handed to Teddy, Shadow would immediately stop what he was doing and shift his attention to that toy—even if he’d just had one. While he wasn’t aggressive or overly assertive, this kind of behavior is worth monitoring to prevent any resource guarding or competitive tension.
Overall, Shadow did well today and showed a bit more engagement. With continued structure and consistency, he’ll continue to make steady progress!
Great job, Shadow!

This morning we met up with Shadow’s brother Teddy at the park again! We spent time working on their commands side by side and also made sure they had some fun playtime together. Both boys did well keeping their cool, even while playing with toys. We didn't see
Shadow showed some real improvement today — he stayed more engaged with me during training and performed his commands much better than yesterday. On top of that, he’s still keeping up his great potty habits! He had no accidents and went potty right away when we stepped outside this morning.

Today we worked on improving Shadow’s recall with the Come To Sit command! This exercise helps him build consistency, focus, and good manners by coming promptly when called and sitting politely at our side. He’s already showing nice progress and more confidence with each repetition. Check out the video above to see how well he’s doing with this important skill!

Shadow started his day with a nice trip to the park this morning, where he got to stretch his legs and take in all the sights and smells before we shifted gears. The rest of the day was focused on polishing his indoor manners, especially his door manners. We’ve been working on teaching him to exit and enter calmly so that the door opening becomes a nonevent instead of something exciting. This includes practicing waiting patiently, maintaining focus, and only moving forward when given the cue.
We build on this skill a little more each time we leave the house, which has been especially helpful in the mornings when Shadow is full of energy. By starting with calm behavior at the door, we’re setting the tone for a more collected, focused outing overall. He’s learning that calmness and patience lead to freedom and fun—a huge step toward a polite, confident dog. Shadow is making steady progress and handling these transitions with more composure every day!

Today was a special day for Shadow — we met up with his brother Teddy at the park! The two of them did well together, so we took the opportunity to start practicing a “double Heel” to see how manageable it would be to walk both boys at the same time. Each of them handled it fairly well, showing nice focus and cooperation, even though there were several moments of distraction here and there. Overall, this was a great success for Shadow and Teddy — a big step toward improving their teamwork and walking manners side by side!

Shadow had a big training day today! We went to the park, which was packed with soccer games, baseball games, and all kinds of other activities — easily the most distracting environment he’s faced so far. Despite all the noise, movement, and excitement, Shadow did an impressive job staying polite and mostly focused on me throughout our session. He showed great progress navigating such a busy setting and kept a positive, excited energy while still listening and responding well. Overall, he had a fun and exciting day while maintaining his manners and focus — a big step forward for him!
