Scout, a six month old Cokapoo, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Scout comes to us with typical puppy behavior: lack of following commands, leash pulling, being easily distracted, nipping, and jumping to greet. Over the two weeks Scout will be working on his off leash obedience and manners, check in to see his progress!

Scout has settled in well at my home. He is having a blast with all his new friends. He has been running around and playing nonstop since he’s been here.

Today Scout and I worked on his obedience at home. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit and Place. Place is a command where Scout must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching him to be calm and relaxed.

Today Scout and I went to the park to work on his obedience. We practiced more on the Sit and Place commands. We also worked on a new command, Heel. Heel is still a work in progress, but he is walking much better now. Scout did a great job on his second day of training!

Today Scout and I stayed out of the heat and trained at home. We worked on a new command, Down. He was not a fan of this command and threw a little trantrum when he didn’t want to listen. After awhile scout got the hang of it and started laying down more willingly, without the attitude.

Today Scout and I went to the park to work on his commands. He learned two new commands: Come to Sit and Come to Heel. He is doing very well with his training, but can be very stubborn when he doesn’t want to listen.

Today Scout and his buddy, Thunder, went to Lowes to practice their commands around distractions and out of the heat. Scout did a great job following his commands with all the noise and people distractions going on around us. He got a few compliments on how well behaved he is, and of course how adorable he is.

Today Scout and I practiced his obedience commands around the neighborhood. Scout got to practice his commands semi-offleash. I let him drag the leash around while we worked on his commands. He did pretty well. We need to tighten up a few of his commands and he will be ready to start working completely off leash!

Today Scout and I went to the park to work on his off leash obedience. He did pretty well, except when seeing other dogs that he wanted to say hi to. We worked through the dog distractions until he understood that he had to ignore them and stay focused on me.

Today Scout joined me on a shopping spree at The Block at Orange. He got to practice his off leash obedience around all the people distractions. He did a great job! He sat nicely while someone approached to pet him.

Today Scout and I went to The Citadel Outlet to work in his off leash obedience around distractions. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their pups, so Scout got to practice his commands around plenty of dog distractions. He did an awesome job today!

Today Scout took the day off of training and spent the day socializing and playing with his friends before he leaves. I gave him a bath so he could be clean when he goes home, but it last long. He wrestled around with his friends and got dirty again. Scout can’t wait to go home tomorrow and show you everything he has learned!
