Hi Roxy!!!!

Roxy is staying with us for boarding for one week, and we are so excited to have her back! Since she already completed her training course with one of our amazing trainers, she has a great understanding of her basic obedience commands. During her stay, we’ll continue to reinforce her off-leash commands while also making sure she has plenty of fun with long walks, games of fetch, and even learning a few new tricks along the way.

Roxy is such a sweet, loving, and smart pup. She has an amazing personality and is always a joy to be around. I’m really looking forward to spending quality time with her this week and continuing to build on all the great work she has already accomplished.

After drop-off, Roxy and I took a leisurely walk around the park while her dad left the field. At first, she was a little concerned about being left behind, which is completely normal. After a few minutes, though, her silly and loving personality started to shine through, and all she wanted was belly rubs… and more belly rubs!

Today, we worked with the long line to brush up on her obedience skills. She already knows all of her commands very well, but we focused on improving her leash pulling, cleaner turns on recall, and her anticipation of the “come” command. Roxy did a really great job today and stayed eager to work throughout the session. I’m really looking forward to spending more time with her over the next week!

Roxy and I took a long walk around Monrovia and up through the canyon today. She did great with her heel command and was very curious about checking everything out along the way. Roxy stayed engaged throughout the walk and handled all the sights and smells really well.

We also spent time working on her long line skills and continuing to perfect those recalls. After obedience work, we moved into some trick training. Roxy already knows how to “play dead,” but we’re working on getting a cleaner delivery with the “BANG!” cue. We also started practicing “turn around,” “handshake,” and “rollover.” She is such a smart girl, so I think we’ll have those tricks down over the next couple of days!

Today, Roxy, my daughter, and I went to Monrovia Canyon Park and hiked the Bill Cull Trail up to the waterfall. Roxy had an absolute blast! She did a wonderful job passing other dogs and younger kids along the trail while staying calm and focused.

We brought a ball along for her to chase once we reached the waterfall, but she wasn’t too interested in retrieving it from the water. She definitely enjoyed splashing around and cooling off, though! We also continued working on her tricks, and she is catching on very quickly. Because there were a lot of people on the trail, I kept her on leash, but I still ran her through all of her commands throughout the hike. She did a really nice job listening and staying engaged in such a distracting environment.

Roxy mastered her tricks today — what a smart dog! She is now able to perform “handshake,” “turn around,” “play dead,” and “roll over!” She picked everything up so quickly and had a lot of fun showing off her new skills.

We also continued working on her basic obedience using the long line and some off-leash practice. We trained in my backyard with fewer distractions so I could really focus on drilling her recalls. Her off-leash turns still need a little more polishing, but overall, she did a really great job and stayed eager to work the entire session. Good job, Roxy!!!!

Unfortunately, the time has come for Roxy to head back home. We had so much fun spending the week with her, and she will truly be missed! Over the past week, she continued to show just how smart, loving, and funny she is. From working on her obedience and off-leash skills to mastering all of her tricks, Roxy gave 100% effort every single day.

She has such a sweet personality and brought so much joy and laughter during her stay. Watching her confidence, playful side, and affectionate nature shine through made this week such a pleasure. We hope to see Roxy again sometime soon — she will always be welcomed back with lots of belly rubs and love!
