Meet Roxy! She’s a sweet and gentle Bully mix from Studio City, California, here for our Three-Week Reactive Board and Train Program! Roxy is an absolute sweetheart who loves being around people, but she sometimes struggles with anxiety, especially around loud noises, large vehicles, and unfamiliar objects. While she knows some basic commands, she often has trouble following through when she’s feeling unsure or distracted.
Over the next twenty-one days, we’ll be focusing on helping Roxy build confidence, sharpening her obedience skills, and teaching her how to stay calm and focused even in challenging environments. We’re so excited to help this loving girl learn to relax and thrive—stay tuned for Roxy’s three-week transformation!

The sweet girl stepped into a lively park today, surrounded by barking and zooming dogs, and we zeroed in on building her comfort alongside solid sits and extended sits. We began in a quieter corner, asking for simple sits to help her settle into the environment—Roxy offered them willingly but with a tense posture, ears flicking at every new sound, so we kept sessions short and rewarded heavily for any calm moment. As other dogs passed at a distance, she’d tense or shift her weight, but gentle praise and a quick release helped her refocus without escalating.
Extended sits were the real work in progress. We aimed for one minute but hovered around 20–30 seconds before she’d stand or turn toward a nearby pup’s playful bark. Each break earned a calm reset rather than frustration, and by the third rep she managed a 40-second hold with softer eyes and a looser body, a small but clear win amid the park’s energy. Distractions pulled her attention often, yet she never bolted or vocalized—just honest learning curves we’ll smooth out with repetition.
We wrapped with low-pressure comfort walks on a loose leash, letting her watch the action from a safe bubble while staying in a relaxed heel. Roxy left the park calmer than she arrived, brain tired from processing but tail wagging softly. Tomorrow we’ll keep criteria achievable, boost reinforcement for stillness, and gradually close the gap to busier zones. She’s finding her footing, one steady breath at a time!

Welcome back to Roxy’s blog! Today we took our training to the bustling Victoria Gardens outdoor mall, and this girl rose to the challenge like a true pro. We ran through every command—sit, down, place, heel, recall—with distractions everywhere: shoppers, strollers, the scent of pretzels in the air. Roxy held her positions beautifully.
She’s still adjusting to the Leader around her snout and while it makes her a touch uncomfortable at times, her progress is clear—she’s tolerating it better with each outing, shaking it off and getting right back to work. Appetite remains strong, hydration on point, and her energy is pure joy.
Roxy’s turning heads and stealing hearts at Victoria Gardens, and we couldn’t be prouder of how far she’s come. More adventures ahead—this gem just keeps shining brighter!

Bass Pro Shop was today’s playground, and Roxy turned the aisles into her personal training arena. We zeroed in on stretching her positions and distance—long place on the boat-display deck while shoppers circled, down-stays between the fishing rods as carts rattled past, and heel work that snaked 30+ feet through the camping gear maze.
She held rock-steady, even with the scent of jerky in the air and taxidermy staring her down. The Leader around her snout is still a minor annoyance, but she’s shrugging it off faster each rep, focusing like it’s not even there.
This girl is adapting, advancing, and absolutely owning the big-box chaos. More leash, more space, more proof she’s built for anywhere!
Stay tuned for more of Roxy’s wonderful progress!

Hey everyone, Roxy put in solid work at Home Depot today!
We focused on distraction training to ease her anxiety and reactivity—carts rolling, crowds moving, loud announcements—and she’s coming along nicely. Thresholds are dropping, focus is sharpening, and those big feelings are starting to settle with every controlled exposure.
She held her commands under pressure, stayed engaged with her handler, and took corrections like a champ. Progress is clear: less barking, faster recovery, and more tail wags than worry. This girl is building confidence one rep at a time.
Roxy is right on pace and we couldn’t be more proud!

Rain poured all day, so we stayed in the parking garage where we could hear dripping ceilings, echoing footsteps, revving engines, and the occasional horn cutting through.
Roxy worked a full obedience session, moving through the routine with noticeably more comfort than before. She’s not perfect yet—still some hesitation and the odd glance at noise—but she’s a lot steadier thanks to the ongoing desensitization to loud sounds and big vehicles.
Each loud noise or sudden echo barely fazes her now.
Progress is real!

Rain was drumming on rooftops, but Roxy—our guest—wasn’t about to miss the action.
She joined me on a supply run to a bustling retail store, trotting at heel like she owned the place.
Helping me pick out clothes with quiet enthusiasm, she sat patiently, downed happily, and heeled smoothly past racks of jackets while shoppers reached around us.
She read the room, read me, and worked clean—no pulls, no sniffs, just bright-eyed partnership.
Roxy’s demonstrated that she understands the commands we have been teaching her. Now, we are showing her different “pictures” of the same commands. We do this by practicing the commands in many different environments.
Roxy is still responding well to the leader, she does not fight against it much if any at all. Over the next several days, we will transition away from the leader onto her regular leash.
More tomorrow!

Roxy did very well in all of her sessions today!
Given the inclement weather we have been facing, because we had a short burst of sunshine, we could not resist getting Roxy outside to practice her routine and experience more desensitization training.
Although she is a bit uncomfortable with wet concrete, she is working through it.
The big reason that we need to show pups that even though the floor may be wet, all the same rules apply, is because of the fact that her owners will likely face the same situation in the future.
It’s our job to make sure that Roxy is prepared and ready to go into any situation, and she’s done such a wonderful job so far!
Stay Tuned!

Roxy is coming along nicely!
We haven’t seen an ounce of reactivity from her for a few days now.
This tells us that the socialization and desensitization training is working as we’d planned.
Roxy moves through all of her positions so well now that it’s about time the leader came off of her snout!
Tomorrow we will be removing the leader and beginning Roxy’s training with different equipment and tools. By the time we are finished, only minimal leash pressure should be required.
Stay tuned!

Welcome to Roxy’s Christmas Wonderland!
In spite of our constant nagging that we haven’t even hit Thanksgiving yet, Roxy insisted that we take a break during one of our training sessions to snap a picture of her next to the Garden Trolly because Christmas “makes her happy.”
As everyone knows, this little potato is very hard to say no too.
So we caved and let her model in front of the object that used to give her anxiety but now only make her curious;)
Well done Roxy!
Stay tuned!

Roxy has come to a very comfortable understanding of all of her commands. We have transitioned away from the leader and are now using simple directional pressure on the leash coupled with very light stimulation from the E collar. Roxy is very happy to have the leader off of her snout, and is enjoying our walks and training sessions much more.
Roxy’s appetite is wonderful, we always know she will clean her plate. She’s also eating all supplements, and sticking to her daily routine.
Roxy’s reactivity has subsided significantly, it is actually very hard to coax a reaction out of her at this point. We did a lot of desensitization work, and it is now showing.
Come back tomorrow to see more of Roxy’s journey!

When it comes to working on breaking reactivity and anxiety, we want to put the pup in as many slightly uncomfortable positions as possible. This is how we show them that there’s no reason for them to be scared.
We did several hours of work spread out through the day, but made sure to take these pictures with Roxy holding position in front of something that would have made her react in the past.
You can see from the pictures, she’s a little bit unsure of the big things sitting behind her. That being said, she pushed through her fear and held positions in a wonderful way.
She’s doing a great job and we’re not done yet!
Come see us again tomorrow for more updates!

We did a lot of indoor work today! Roxy’s anxiety has subsided significantly, although we are continuing to push her into busier and louder areas in order to quell her insecurity.
We haven’t run into any issues thus far, Roxy practicing all of her commands, as well as her manners, has proven to pay off over the past couple of weeks.
This little girl is right on track to being delivered back to her owners in a very great obedience shape.
Come see us again tomorrow!

Welcome back and say hello once again to Miss Roxy!
The little gal enjoyed her sessions of training throughout the day.
She has become very comfortable with our playtime; turns out she loves to be chased (sort of!) through the yard, even running from one spot to another with a big jump in her step!
We cannot help but appreciate this special pup’s personality, coupled with her overall positive attitude.
We are coming into the last week of Roxy’s training journey. This is when we drive everything home.
Keep following for the final seven days of Roxy’s program!

Foxy little Roxy showed off her skills at the park today. She woke up this morning explaining that, because it’s Sunday, we should take it easy.
We compromised and spent time in the sun at a busy park.
We are continuing to build duration with her commands and take every opportunity we can to practice soothing her anxiety.
As we go into the home stretch of Roxy’s training program, we know that this little potato will make us all proud!
Keep it up Roxy!

Only six days left until this little one goes home!
As we prepare for filming Roxy’s final video, we are focusing on tightening up all of her commands.
We are continuing to practice desensitization and anxiety reduction inside the house as well as putting her into situations regularly which used to make her go bananas.
Even though we are asking a lot from her, we are keeping things as positive and upbeat as possible during every interaction.
Stay tuned!

The Come to Sit command is essential when building a dog’s recall; both on and off leash.
Roxy loves to practice because she knows throughout the process she’s going to get lots of love and attention:)
Roxy’s appetite hasn’t slowed down, but we are making sure she has plenty of opportunities to burn off some calories.
We will keep practicing behaviors with Roxy until she’s ready to go home.
Come back tomorrow to see more of Roxy’s training journey!

At this point in the game, everything is high repetition and positivity.
Roxy gives her all when facing a challenge and we reward her for that effort.
We enjoyed a long walk this morning where we worked in our commands, followed by a rest and another session later in the afternoon at a busy shopping center.
Roxy’s reactivity has been significantly reduced; we will continue to practice bettering this behavior.
Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion to Roxy’s training journey!

Happy Thanksgiving!
In between the turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie, we made sure to get Roxy out and about today in the sunshine so that she can enjoy her practice sessions.
We are anticipating filming her final video tomorrow afternoon, and will be very excited to share that with her owners and the public.
Because of the holiday, we will make sure that Roxy’s dinner is extra special!
Come back tomorrow for more news of Roxy‘s training journey!

Have you ever seen Roxy so calm in such a busy place?!
Welcome to Victoria Gardens on Black Friday!
Never before has Roxy been exposed to an EXTREMELY distracting environment such as this and remain composed, following all commands.
Although she was quite nervous and unsure, you can see that she differed to her handler in moments of unease.
This type of engagement and trust is why we love dogs in the first place!
Roxy is going home soon and tomorrow will be her final day with us.
Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion on Roxy’s training journey!

Today was Roxy’s final day of training with us. As sad as we are to see her go, we are eager to see her reunited with her family!
During the reunion tomorrow, we will demonstrate all of Roxy’s improved obedience skills to her owners while teaching them how to continue shaping Roxy’s behavior.
It’s been a pleasure working with you Roxy!
Keep shining little girl!
