Rosalita, a one year old Doberman Pinscher, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Rosalita comes to us knowing some commands but not always following them, being easily distracted, not walking properly on leash, and picks up things off the floor she's not suppose to. Over the two weeks Rosalita will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress.

Rosalita has settled in well at my home. She is having a blast with all her new doggie friends. She has been running around and playing nonstop since she has been here.

Today Rosie and I went to the park to work on her commands. I introduced and conditioned her to the ecollar. We practiced commands Place and Heel. Place is a command where Rosie must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be relaxed and calm. Heel is still a work in progress, but she is walking much better now, staying at my side.

Today Rosie and I went to lowes to train out of the train and work around distractions. She was a bit distracted at first, but as we walked around and trained she was able to settle down and focus. We worked on two new commands: Come to Sit and Down. She is a smart girl and caught on to her new commands quickly.

Today Rosie and I went to the park to work on her obedience commands. We practiced a new command, Come to Heel. This command is a little tricky, but Rosie is starting to get the hang of it. We need more work on her Down, still not her favorite command to do. We also need more practice with duration and distance. She will perform a command but won't hold it for long. If I get too far away or walk around her from behind, Rosie will try to pivot around to see me or get up to be closer to me. The more we practice the better she will get.

Today Rosie and I worked on her commands around the neighborhood. She did much better with the Come to Heel command, as well as Down. We worked a lot on her duration, making her hold her commands longer. We also worked on distance, being able to move farther away from her while she holds her commands. Rosie did a great job today!

Today Rosie and I went to the park to work on her obedience. We practiced all her commands and worked on her duration and distance. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Rosie had plenty of dog distractions to work around. She was definitely interested in the other dogs, but she stayed focused and followed through with all her commands.

Today Rosie and her buddy, Sadie, joined me on a shopping spree at the mall. They worked on their obedience around high distractions. Rosie was a little nervous when we first arrived, but as we walked around she was able to settle down and focus on her commands. She received a few compliments on how well behaved she is.

Today Rosie and I went to a local shopping center to work on her obedience. We practiced her commands semi-off leash. I let her drag the leash around while we trained. She did very well and obeyed all her commands. She then joined me and waited patiently while I got a manicure at the nail salon. Rosie received many compliments, from the nail technicians, on how well mannered she is.

Today Rosie and I went to the Citadel Outlets to work on her obedience around distractions. She did a great job! I didn't have to hold the leash once while we were there. She stayed at my side while we walked around the shops. She stayed focused and followed all her commands. Rosie had many admirers that would stop to watch her train. She received a few compliments on how well mannered she is.

Today Rosie and I went down to Huntington Beach for the day and worked on her off leash obedience. Rosie did prettt well. She followed all her commands. She was reactive a few times towards dogs that were barking at her, but once I corrected her, she stopped focusing on them and put her attention back to me.

Today Rosie and I went back down to Huntington Beach to work on her off leash obedience. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Rosie could work closely around dog distractions. As usual, she did very well, stayed focused, and was very obedient. Her favorite part of the day was being able to run around on the beach and play in the sand.

Today Rosie had an easy day of training. We worked on her obedience at home. I used her friends as a distraction and let them play while Rosie and I worked on her commands. She did very well. She stayed focused and followed all her commands, even though she really wanted to join in on the fun. We also worked on her door manners, teaching Rosie that she isn't allowed to run out the door because it is open. She must wait until I allow her to pass the threshold. Once training was over she got to run around and play with all her buddies.

Today Rosie took the day off from training and spent the day socializing and playing with friends. I took Rosie over to a friend's house where she made a new friend, Blue the Pit Bull/ Husky. When we got home, I gave her a bath so she can be clean when she goes home tomorrow. Rosie can't wait to go home and show you everything she has learned!
