Rocky, a 10 month old Chihuahua Mix, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train Program. Rocky comes to us knowing some commands, but not always following them if distracted. He pulls on the leash while walking, jumps to greet, doesn’t have a solid recall, and has separation anxiety. Over the two weeks Rocky will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Rocky is settling in well at my home. He had a tough a ride home, barking and whining. When we got to the house his behavior changed. He got to meet the rest of the pack and warmed up to them quickly. He been having a blast running around and playing with his new friends.

Today Rocky and I trained at home. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit, Down, and Place. Not sure if he already knows the place command, but he caught on very quickly to the command. Rocky needs some more work on his duration. It’s hard for him to hold commands, but with more practice he will get better. Rocky had a great first day of training!

Today Rocky and I went to the park to work on his commands. We practiced more of his Sit, Down, and Place commands. We also started working on the Heel command. Heel is a structured walk where Rocky walks right alongside me. He should focus on me and were I am walking rather than the distractions that at around us. It still a work in progress, but Rocky is walking much better, staying close to my side and focusing on where I am walking.

Today Rocky and I went to the park to work on his commands. We practiced more of his Sit, Down, and Place commands. We also started working on the Heel command. It is still a work in progress, but Rocky is walking much better, staying close to my side and focusing on where I am walking.

Today Rocky and I trained at home. We practiced all his commands and worked on his distance and duration. He did pretty well following all his commands. Down was the only one he was a bit stubborn with, but I made sure that he followed through with it.

Today Rocky and I went to the park to work on his obedience. We worked a lot on his down and place commands. Rocky is a bit stubborn with these two commands. After some repetition he started following them the first time I asked. He is getting much better with his duration.

Today Rocky and I went to a local shopping center to work on his commands. He did very well with his command. He was focused and obedient. We were able to work semi off leash; I let him drag the leash around while we worked. We need to tighten up a few of his commands and then he will be ready to work completely off leash.

Today Rocky and I went to Lowe’s to work on his obedience. We did more semi-off leash training. He did very well and followed all his commands. Rocky did a great job assisting me with his new training buddy,Joe. He showed Joe how be be a good boy out in public.

Today Rocky and I went to the park to work on commands. We worked on his distance and duration. He did very well. He was focused and obedient. We need some more work on his distance. You can see on the video he breaks his down a few times when I get too far away from him. We will continue to work and build on this.

Today Rocky and I went to the park to work on his obedience. He did a great job! Rocky trained completely off leash! There were a lot of dog distractions around the park. Rocky did very well ignoring all the dogs and staying focused on his commands. We are still working on Rocky’s distance when in the down command.

Today Rocky and I trained at home. We practiced all his commands and worked on his distance and duration. I used his friends as a distraction and let them play around us while we trained. He did well staying focused and followed all his commands. We also worked on his door manners, teaching Rocky to not pass thresholds until given permission.
once training was over he got to join in on the fun with his buddies.

Today Rocky and I went to the park to train. We work on all his commands. We worked on his distance and duration. He did very well staying focused. Rocky followed all his commands. We are still working on his duration down with distance. He still tries to break command if I get too far away from him. We will continue to practice and improve.

Today Rocky and I went to the outdoor shopping mall to work on his obedience. The mall was pretty busy, so Rocky had many people distractions to work around. He was a little distracted with the new surroundings, which made it hard for him to focus. As we walked around and trained, Rocky was able to settle down and focus. There were many admirers that complimented Rocky on his good behavior.

Today Rocky and I went to another outdoor shopping mall to work on his obedience. The mall was pretty busy, so Rocky had many people and dog distractions to work around. He did pretty well staying focused. He was a little stubborn with his come command, but with repetition Rocky started following his command.
