Rio the Golden Doodle joins Offleash Socal for a one-week board and train focused on building better leash manners and a strong foundation in basic obedience. Throughout the week, Rio will work on walking calmly without pulling, staying engaged with his handler, and responding more reliably to commands such as sit, down, place, recall, and heel. We will practice these skills in a variety of environments and around everyday distractions so Rio can build confidence, improve impulse control, and develop the structure needed to be a more enjoyable companion at home and out in public.

Rio the Golden Doodle took a trip to the park to begin learning what commands and expectations he already understands while working with me in a new environment. This session allowed me to evaluate his leash manners, engagement, focus, and response to basic obedience around distractions such as people, dogs, sounds, and open space. By giving Rio time to work through familiar commands in a real-world setting, I can better identify where he is confident, where he needs more guidance, and how to build a training plan that helps him become calmer, more responsive, and easier to handle in public.

Today Rio learned introduction to place. First sitting on the mat and then finally being able to lay down with just the word place. By the end of the training session I was able to “send” Rio to the place mat with just a hand signal and verbal command.

Today, Rio the Golden Doodle worked on building a clean, reliable heel while learning to automatically sit each time I came to a stop. We focused on keeping him engaged at my side, moving with purpose, and rewarding him for making the right choices without needing repeated commands. By the end of the session, Rio was showing great progress with his position, attention, and ability to settle into an automatic sit when the walk stopped.

Rio the Golden Doodle took his training to the mall today to work through real-world distractions while practicing his heel, automatic sit, and place command. With people walking by, new sounds, and plenty of activity around him, Rio stayed focused and learned that obedience still applies outside of the house. Public training builds confidence, strengthens communication, and helps turn commands into reliable habits wherever life takes him.
