Meet Remy! She's a three year old Goldendoodle from Newbury Park, California here for our Two-Week Board and Train Program! She's a sweetheart, however she tends to get anxious around people and dogs. She loves jumping on people, pulling on her leash and is all over the place while walking. She could also use some work on her basic commands! Over the next fourteen days, we'll build Remy's confidence in new environments, teach her to properly walk on and off leash, as well as develop her other basic commands, and show Remy how to be the best pup she can possibly be! Stay tuned for Remy's two week transformation!

I'll be picking up Remy tomorrow, however, from the looks of Mike's video, Remy seems to be responding well to her sit, down and come commands! I'd like to work on her being a little bit more responsive and attentive, but I like what I'm seeing! I can also tell that Remy is very excitable and loves to jump around! We'll work on that too! Mike Also told me that they worked on Remy's Heel command and that she's already making progress! For Heel, I want Remy to walk at my left side with her ears at my knee, without pulling forward or veering off to the side.

Remy had a full day today! She started off with a little more training with Mike, which you can see in the above video! Once I picked her up, we headed to Almansor Park to get to know each other and continue her training! Her Heel is coming along nicely, thanks to Mike. There were several distractions that she wanted to pull toward, including people and geese, but she's doing very well for her first full day! We started working on her Come To Sit command. For this command, I want Remy to come to my right side, walk around my legs and sit at my left side with her ears at my knee. She's got the first part down fairly well, but she likes to stop short before going all the way around me. She's getting there though!

Remy went to Garfield Park today for training! In the above video, she does a really good job with her Heel and Come To Sit commands! The part that I'm most proud of her for, however, is the progress she's made in holding her sit, even when several other dogs pass quite close to us. She still looks at them, and when she focuses too much on another dog, I use the Off command. Off is a general, "do not do" command we can use to ask Remy to refocus her attention on me, or at the very least, off of the distraction!

Remy went to Studio City Recreation Center today for training! She started the morning off a bit stubborn, and didn't want to perform her commands with very much accuracy. She worked very hard the last couple days, so she might have just been tired and frustrated from all the learning she's done. We took a break, then started back up a while later, and she was back to performing very well! She snapped at another dog through her crate last night. The other dog walked past her crate in an excited manner, and Remmy barked and snapped. This could either be Remy feeling barrier frustration, or feeling protective of her spot. Barrier frustration happens when a dog sees something through a barrier, such as a fence or a door, and feels frustrated that they can't get to it, causing them to bark or snap. Remy might also feel like she owns her crate and doesn't want another dog to get too close.

Remy and I spent the day at Almansor Park! There were a few times she was a bit stubborn, but she generally did a great job! She worked on her Place command, as shown in the above video. For Place, I'd like Remy to hop up onto a raised object, such as a bench, and remain there. This is great for confidence building and helping her hold positions by giving her a very specific area I want her to stay. For example, there are a couple times in the video above where Remy breaks her command and jumps down before I'm ready. When this happens, I reiterate the Place and Sit commands, while utilizing her E collar and guiding her back to the bench. The distinct borders of the bench will help Remy know exactly where I want her! Remy worked on each or her commands at the park, and then we went home where Remy took a well earned nap. She hasn't snapped from in her crate today, even though two different dogs have been around her.

Remy and I started our day at Almansor Park, but then it started sprinkling a bit so we decided to pack up and go to Petsmart for some more exposure and training! All the scents around the store got Remy a bit excited at first, and there was one little dog in particular that Remy was obsessed with. She quickly grew accustomed to the new smells in the environment, however, and before long we were heeling around the whole store with no issues!

Remy and I went to the Santa Monica Promenade today for training! We worked on all of her commands around a lot of distractions, and she did well! She got pretty excited at times, which you can see in the above video when she jumps up from her Down position a little preemptively. Other than breaking her commands a few times, she was very attentive and chipper today! She even got compliments from a nice family who wanted to pet her. She did a really good job allowing them to pet her without jumping on them. There was one time we needed to ride in an elevator and Remy was a little nervous, but still behaved very well.

Remy and I went to the Santa Anita Mall today! We spent most of our time in their outdoor area, and a little time inside. Remy did a really good job with each of her commands, and behaved well around the distractions! We spent most of our time working on Remy's ability to hold her positions from farther away and for longer periods of time, because she's had some issues with that. She made a lot of progress today!

Remy spent the day at Almansor Park for training! We're starting to do more commands with Remy's leash dragging, and she's doing a great job with it so far! She was very responsive today, and she did a good job at sticking by my side without the leash in my hand. There was one moment when Remy got a little excited to see a small dog, so I stepped on the leash, but other than that we didn't use her leash at all today. Remy had a long day at the park, so when we got home she took a nice nap!

Remy and I went to Garfield Park today for training! She spent the day leash dragging and was good with each of her commands! We kept the leash on today, but there weren't any times I had to step on the leash. However, there also weren't very many distractions around the park today. Once we finished working, Remy and I played around and got more exercise for both of us, which I think she liked. At home, we're working on Remy's ability to hold a Place on a blanket while I cook dinner. She's getting pretty good with this, but still often wants to come closer to me to see what I'm doing!

Remy and I went to Hacienda Park today for training! When we first arrived at the park, she had a phase of about five to ten minutes where she became very stubborn and had a hard time with her commands. We powered through it, and she began behaving well shortly thereafter. Several other trainers and dogs were in very close proximity to us, and I believe Remy wasn't as comfortable with that at first. After the first few minutes, we took off her leash and she performed each of her commands admirably, even with the other dogs around! We went back out to a park closer to my house later in the day, and Remy continued to behave well!

Remy and I went to Almansor Park for her training today! She was off leash for about half the time. She performed each command fairly well off leash. For the first few minutes, she didn't seem comfortable with her Down command. After performing it a few times, however, she got back into the groove! There were a few dogs that got Remy's attention while we worked, but she just glanced at them, and never broke her commands to go to them.

Remy and I went to Cheviot Hills this morning! She was off leash for most of the day and performed well. We mostly worked on her ability to her positions without breaking. For her Sit, Down, and Place commands, I want Remy to be able to stay put for about two minutes around distractions. There were a few times when Remy wanted to break toward me, especially from her Down position, but she ended up doing a very good job and I was able to walk quite a few yards away from her without her moving!

Remy went to the Santa Monica Pier today for training! She was a bit nervous around the large crowds, but she ended up doing a good job with her commands! She was off leash, and stayed close to me. She was distracted a lot of the time, often looking around checking out her surroundings. Despite this, she managed to perform each of her commands and generally did a great job! Later, we went to the park near my house for a slightly more relaxing experience for Remy to end the day! For her video today, I wanted to show one of the household manners we've been working on. For door manners, I want Remy to sit patiently when a door opens, without trying to rush through before me. We practice this each time we go in or out of the front door, so she's gotten pretty good at it!

Remy and I went to Santa Anita Mall today for training! She behaved well and performed her commands on and off leash. It was hot today so a lot of our time was spent inside. Remy seemed much more relaxed than she did at Santa Monica Pier yesterday. After the mall, when the temperature started to go down, we went to the park for fun and a little bit more training!

Remy and I went to Almansor Park this morning! It started to get hot, so we went home early and continued our day at the house. For her video today I wanted to show more of the manners we've been working on! For greeting manners, I want Remy to sit when approached and petted by a stranger. She loves attention and pets, so this one has been difficult for her, but she's getting it! For food refusal, I want to be able to put high value food in front of her without her trying to grab it. In this case, I used breakfast burritos, and she did a great job. For car manners, I want Remy to hop into the car and walk directly into her kennel when asked! She got good with this very quickly. I'll be taking Remy to our head trainer, Sheena, tonight and she will take care of Remy until she goes home. Remy has been so nice to have around the house, and I'll miss her!
