Quincy | Golden Retriever | Pacific Palisades, CA | In-Training

This is Quincy! She is a 16-month old Golden Retriever from Pacific Palisades, CA. Quincy has joined our Two Week Board and Train program for leash pulling, jumping on others, and basic obedience. She is very easily distracted and also enjoys chasing squirrels. Overall Quincy is a playful, energetic, joyful puppy and we are looking forward to seeing her transformation!

Quincy and I took a stroll through the park today where we worked on her Recall which means come to my right side and go around behind me to sit on my left, also known as Come To Sit. Although easily distracted within the first 30 minutes, she started to pick it up. We also worked on her Heel command which means walk with me on my left side and Quincy did very well. We settled in, and worked some more at home. She did an amazing job for her first day and Iā€™m looking forward to see Quincy progress these next two weeks!

Quincy and I took a drive to Motor Ave. this morning to work more on her Heel and Recall at Cheviot Hills Park. When Heeling, I noticed Quincy would stay a little behind me and not quite next to me so I helped her by picking up my pace, and having her engage with me in a more excited state. We also introduced the Place command, which means getting onto an elevated object and maintaining all four paws on the object. She did a good job Placing and we are going to keep working on it to continue building her confidence more and more. Good job today Quincy!

Quincy and I went out to the Citadel Outlets today. In this outdoor shopping mall, Quincy was introduced to a different environment along with different distractions. We began working on duration Sit as well as duration Place which means holding those commands for a good minute or two. Quincy did an excellent job! We also improved on Heel and Quincy is now keeping up at my pace while walking right next to me! Loving the progress she is making!

Ā

Today we had Quincy work on her duration Down. I noticed when I put her in the Down command, I would take a step forward, and Quincy would break the command. We cleaned it up by moving away one step slowly at a time and she started to pick it up pretty well. Quincy also worked on her Heel weaving through poles and even made two new friends in the process!

Ā

Quincy and I headed out to the Outlets in Orange today to work more on duration with distraction and added a little bit of distance. I put Quincy in a Sit command and we added distraction by having two pups walk near and around her. The same was done for the Down command as well and Quincy succeeded! To top it off, Quincy managed to Heel and Sit towards the end of the video as I dropped the leash!

Todayā€™s outing took Quincy and I down to Glendale. We worked on Heel in the outdoor mall and we worked on it by dropping the leash. Quincy strolled right along my side and I assisted her in avoiding distractions such as people and other dogs. We also worked more on duration Sit and duration Down along with Place. Quincy is making good progress and its great to know that she knows all of her commands!

Ā

Quincy and I took a trip to the Santa Monica Pier today where we started to prepare her a little more for the Off Leash experience by having the leash drag with some slack. We started with Heel and walked the pier back and forth with distractions all around. We dropped the leash for her duration Sit, Down, and Place, and increased the distance between Quincy and I. We are also working on building her confidence by having her Place on different objects. Her durations have gotten a lot better and she can hold those durations pretty well! She is making really good progress and it is coming along pretty well!

Ā

Quincy and I drove out to Huntington Beach today! There were many distractions such as bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, and other dogs. It was amazing to see how well Quincy performed in front of it all! She strolled right along beside me as if nothing or nobody was around. We also worked more on her Place by trying different objects to keep building her confidence more and more. We were joined by a few fellow pups and had a little pack walk as well! Week one is in the books, and we are looking forward to more progress in week two! Good girl Quincy!

Ā

Today Quincy and I took a trip back to the Citadel Outlets where we worked on her duration Place, Sit, and Down a little more. We continued to practice with the leash dragging and Quincy managed to stay in her Heel command while walking throughout the Outlets. We headed home, gave her a rest, and then brought her out for some playtime which she really enjoys. I also had my son walk around with one of Quincyā€™s Greenieā€™s and worked her a little more into not letting her take it from his hand which she is doing a very good job at!

Ā

Quincy and I did a little sightseeing out on the Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd. today. We began our walk on Vine St. and made our way towards Highland Ave. where we worked with a lot of noise like the sound of construction going on, fire truck sirens, loud cars, and horn-honking by trucks and buses. We also had her Place on the Walk of Fame itself as people walked right by her and Quincy did a great job! And whatā€™s Hollywood Blvd. without any pictures, so of course we had Quincy pose for a few!

Ā

Today Quincy and I drove out to Century City Mall on Santa Monica Blvd. We started by Placing her on different objects she thought she wouldnā€™t be able to Place on and continued to build her confidence. Quincy worked a little more on her greeting manners as well. Considering that we are always approached by different people wanting to say hello, it is important she knows how to properly greet others. Shortly after, we took the leash off and made our way around the mall. Needless to say, Quincy came in on leash and left off leash!

Ā

Quincy and I worked more off leash today. We walked around my neighborhood which is full of dog distractions. We worked through dogs in front yards, neighbors walking their dogs, dogs barking at front doors, and even a few gardeners telling Quincy what a good dog she is! We also did some off leash work in my front yard and had some playtime shortly after. Quincy and I want to wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Have a great holiday and enjoy!

Ā

Quincy and I returned to the Santa Monica Pier this afternoon. It was a little more crowded than usual and we felt it was the perfect time to take her leash off! We did a few sessions working all of her commands and Quincy was absolutely stellar! It was a real proud moment for both her and I to see how far she has come along since day one. The hard work is paying off and the results are amazing! Great job Quincy!

Ā

Quincy is excited to be going home! We took one last trip out to The Grove today for some more off leash work and I could not be any happier seeing all that she has accomplished in the two weeks she has been with us! Anyone who approaches Quincy praises her on how beautiful and well behaved she is! It was a pleasure having her and will truly be missed! I want to thank you for trusting me with her and I can not wait to show you how great she is! Her final video is coming soon but in the meantime we really hope you enjoy this clip! Thank you!
