Purple | Pitbull | Rancho Palos Verdes, CA| In- Training

Meet Purple, a 6 month old pitbull from Rancho Palos Verdes, CA! She is a very sweet, goofy, and playful pup who will be joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program! Purple loves to use her strong body to pull her owners on the leash while out on walks! Purple adores people but sometimes gets too excited and will jump on them to say hello. While she is with us, Purple will be learning basic obedience, leash manners, and staying calm when greeting people! Stay tuned for her Two Week Transformation!

This afternoon, Purple and I spent most of the time taking walks around the neighborhood to help her adjust to her new environment! She is such a sweet, gentle, goofy pup and LOVES affection! We laid on the grass and I gave her lots of pets and belly rubs! Later on we went to a park and laid on the grass while Purple smelled the grass and explored! She had no issues in her crate and was very quiet! I’m very excited to start working her tomorrow and can’t wait to see her progress!

Today, Purple and I started the morning with a walk around the neighborhood to give her a chance to explore and be a dog! During our walk she was very persistent with pulling on her flat collar. Since she is super strong and loves to pull her weight around, I decided to put a small prong collar on her to help her learn that pulling isn’t going to get her very far! She adjusted pretty well and is learning that she isn’t allowed to pull me around! Later on we went to a park and started introducing Place and Come! With Place, she picked it up very quickly and even sat without being asked! Very smart girl! With Come, she did fairly well and was super excited to Come! I did notice that when she Comes and Sits, sometimes she leans on my side and tries to lay down. To try and fix this, anytime she leans on me I will step slightly away from her so that she can learn to sit on her own instead of using me as a wall. Other than that, Purple is the sweetest pup and is so much fun to train!

Today Purple and I went on a structured walk around the neighborhood and worked on Heel, Sit, and Come. Since she can be super wiggly when petting her, I decided that verbal praise was the best way to keep her calm but also giving her praise! Later in the day Purple and I went to a park and worked on Place, Down, and Heel. She did pretty well but gets tired quickly, so I am going to try and keep her sessions short so she doesn’t become disengaged and bored. After our session, Purple and I spent some time on the grass and gave her plenty of belly rubs!

Today Purple and I started our morning with a short structured walk around the neighborhood to work on Heel, Sit, and Come! She did fairly well and is getting the hang of those commands! Later we went to a park and continued to sharpen Heel, Sit, Come. I try and keep physical praise to the minimum due to how wiggly Purple can be. If I do physically praise her, I will make sure to keep my energy calm. She has gotten better with not leaning against me when she performs Come to Sit! Very happy with Purple’s progress these past few days!

Today we started our morning with an early structured walk around the neighborhood! We primarily worked on Heel, Sit, and Come. Purple has gotten a lot better with her heel command and will stay by my leg most of the time! She sometimes gets carried away smelling things on the ground and veer off but once I tell her “heel” she gets right back into the command! Later on we went to an outdoor mall where we worked on Heel, Down, Come, Sit, and Place! She did very well with most of the commands but struggled with her duration. Overall I’m very happy with her progress!

Today we started the morning with a structured walk around the neighborhood before it got too hot and worked on Heel, Sit, Come, and Down. Purple has gotten very tight with her heel! She also will stay in a sit for awhile without getting up! Later in the day since it was hot we went and worked at an indoor mall. We practiced all of her commands while she dragged a longline. She did very well and enjoyed staying in the cool environment! After we got home, I gave Purple some time to relax before working on Door manners! She did very well and waited until I released her! Good job Purple!

Today we started our morning with an early structured walk around the neighborhood and worked on Heel, Down, Come, and Place. Purple has gotten a lot more comfortable in the down command when we work on it! While she is in her Heel command, sometimes she likes to stop mid walk. To prevent this, I will usually just pat my leg to get her to keep up! Her duration has gotten better as well! Later on we practiced some more door manners when it got too hot. I am very happy with how she is progressing and can’t wait to see what the next week brings!

Today we started our day with an early morning walk around the neighborhood! We focused on Heel, Come, and Down. Purple still struggles a little bit with her heel due to wanting to put on the breaks if she doesn’t feel like walking. Every time she does this, I pat my leg and repeat the command. Doing this seems to help a lot and put a pep to her step again! Later on we went to Legg Lake and worked on Down, Place, Heel, and Come. At Legg Lake she did better and didn’t struggle as much! After we got home from there, I wanted to continue working on Door Manners because Purple still gets overly excited when leaving the house and will sometimes push her way through the door. Other than those minor things, Purple has been such a sweetie and enjoys cuddle sessions after she works!

We started the morning with our usual structured walk around the neighborhood. We focused on Heel, Sit, and Come! Purple has gotten a lot better with being offleash and performed her commands very well! Later we went to the Janns Marketplace and worked on putting all of her commands together! She was such a good girl and was very calm! Afterwards we went home and continued practicing door manners and some food manners! Purple has been a very good girl and is a joy to train!

Today we started our morning with an early structured walk around the neighborhood and primarily focused on Offleash Heel, Sit, and Come! Over-all Purple did very well and had no issues! She even had time to play at a park on the grass! She loved the belly rubs and ear scratches! Later we went to Simi Valley Mall and continued working on Heel, Place, Down, Come, and Sit! Purple has come so far and loves her newfound freedom while on walks!

Today we started our morning with a structured walk around the neighborhood and worked on Heel, Down, Come, and Sit! She did very well with her commands and even got some belly rubs! Later we decided to try going to the Century City Mall and test out her commands! When we got there, Purple was a bit unsure of the environment and was having a hard time doing some of her commands! To help her overcome some of that fear, I decided to play with her and run around the mall. This helped her get of her head a bit and not be so nervous about her environment. After we did that for a few minutes, Purple was a bit more relaxed and was able to perform some of her commands! Since Purple is still a puppy, it’s super important to keep exposing her to the smells and sounds that are new to her but making it fun and exciting!

Today we started our morning with a structured walk around the neighborhood and focused on Heel, Sit, Come, and Place! Purple was very eager today and very playful during our morning session! Later we went to Northridge Mall and worked her offleash with her commands! She did amazing and wasn't stressed today while training! We also practiced greeting manners at the mall! I am very happy with Purple’s progress and she can’t wait to show you what she has learned!

Today Purple and I had a relaxing last day! We started with our usual structured walk around the neighborhood to fine tune her commands. She did awesome and performed her commands very well! It’s very important that the training is continued afterward so that Purple stays consistent with her commands! Later on we went back to Northridge Mall to work on Heel, Place, Down, Come, and Sit! She was very relaxed and happy go lucky! After we got home from there, we decided to go to a park nearby and just relax! Purple is such a sweet girl and is full of energy!
