Meet Poppy! Poppy is an 11 month old Sheepadoodle from Santa Clarita, CA and she is joining us for our Two Week Board and Train Program! Poppy needs help with basic obedience and her leash manners. Poppy tends to pull heavily on leash when out for walks and gets really excited when she see’s other dogs. Poppy also tends to bark and jump up at people when she gets a little over excited! Poppy is such a sweet and loving girl who is ready to learn! Keep and any out for her amazing transformation!
Pupdate 8/7/2022
Poppy and I spent the day getting to know each other. She was really timid and shy when I first got her out of the kennel. We walked around a local park for a bit and she got a bit more comfortable with me. We slowly introduced the e-collar and poppy did great. She was really confused at first and didn’t understand what to do, especially when we introduced her first command. We worked on her ‘come to sit’ today which took her a bit to get the hang of. Every time I would ask her to ‘come’ she would run the opposite direction or would run past me. She was a little overwhelmed the first day so we made sure to take a lot of breaks in between our session. After a couple of minutes she seemed to be doing a lot better. She did try to twist in her leash after we put a flat collar on her but she didn’t mind it too much. Poppy also adjusted really well to the kennel in my home. She did let out a couple of small whines here and there but was able to settle nicely. She ate all of her dinner and drank plenty of water. She had a treat before bed.

Poppy and I worked on her ‘heel’ and her ‘come to sit’ today. She really struggles with walking by dogs and people. She gets really distracted and wants to go up to every dog she sees. We worked on having her be a little more calm around dogs that we were working around and after a couple of minutes she did a lot better. Poppy still needs a lot of work on her ‘come to sit’ since she still isn’t getting what I’m asking her to do but she is getting a lot better at learning new things. Poppy is adjusting really well to the kennel and slept the whole night.
Pupdate 8/9/2022
Poppy and I went to Lowe’s today to work on her ‘heel’ and her ‘come to sit’. She is doing a little bit better with her heel but will try and pull me if she sees something that’s Interesting to her. She will at times ignore me especially if other people are complimenting her. Poppy is getting the hang of her ‘come to sit’ and is doing such a great job with sitting in the correct position. Poppy did have an accident in the car kennel today, she peed a bit. Overall, Poppy is doing great and is eating all of her food. She is also doing a lot better in the kennel at home and sleeps through the night!

Poppy and I went to Pathfinder park where she was able to work on her ‘heel’ and ‘come to sit’ around other trainers and their pups. She is doing so much better being around distractions and other dogs but will completely loose focus if another dog is barking or running towards her. She is improving nicely and even worked on her ‘down’ today. She is such a good girl!

Poppy and I spent the day working all of her commands today! We focused primarily on her ‘heel’ and ‘down’. She is doing a lot better with her ‘heel’ but will get overexcited if she sees other dogs. It does take a bit to get her to calm down after. She did get really excited seeing all of the ducks and geese and did try to run up to them. After working around them for a bit she seemed to do a lot better but was still overwhelmed. Poppy is slowly getting the hang of ‘down’ and ‘place’. Depending on the distractions she will not want to do it especially if she is interested in something else. We made sure to work in the shade as much as possible since was hot out today! She ate all of her breakfast and dinner.

Poppy and I worked on all of her commands at a local park today! We introduced ‘extended down and sit’. She did a great job but was really fidgety and couldn’t hold it for long periods of time. Poppy is doing so much better with her ‘heel’ and is even walking with no leash tension. She still needs a lot of guidance for her ‘come to sit’ but is improving everyday! Poppy still struggles working around other dogs since she tends to get over excited around them. She seems to calm down after a couple of minutes but will still try to actively pull towards them. She spent the rest of her day lounging in my home eating some treats! She is such a good girl!!

Poppy and I worked on all of her commands today around my neighborhood. She is improving so much more when she’s around other dogs and people but still has her moments when she gets overly excited. We’re still working on her ‘extended sit and down’ but I’d she gets distracted she’ll turn her body to look at it or just stand up. She is really struggling with holding her ‘down’ but is a lot better going into a down! Overall, Poppy is improving everyday and is being a good girl!

Poppy and I went to Petsmart today to work on all of her commands around distractions. She really struggles listening around dogs and will get overwhelmed easily. She tried her hardest but it did take us a bit to get her used to being around so many scents and dogs. Poppy is doing so much better but is really struggling with her ‘down’ in a crowded area. She will at times walk over to me and just sit next to me or just stand up. We’re working on having her be more confident when out. Overall, Poppy is such a good girl and is learning quickly!

Poppy and I spent time working on all of her commands around distractions at Little Lake Park! She did great with her ‘heel’ but would get distracted if people talked to her. She is getting a lot better at holding all of her commands but will stand up if she gets nervous or finds something really interesting. Poppy is doing a lot better being around dogs but it does take some effort to get her to focus back on what we’re doing. Overall, Poppy is getting better each day!

Poppy and I went to Montebello Mall to work on all of her commands. She is doing a lot better at holding her extended ‘sit and down’ but still struggles holding them when people talk to her. She did such a great job working around other trainers and their pups. She was a little over excited in the beginning but soon was able to calm down a bit. Overall, poppy did such a great job today!

Poppy and I worked on all of her commands today! She did such a great job. We also worked on her ‘door manners’. She did have a bit of a hard time keeping her ‘down’ or ‘sit’ in the beginning but was able to get the hand of it slowly. She also did a lot better when we passed by local people and cats. She used to be really interested in the cats but now she didn’t pay them any mind. She would still whine when she saw some of my neighbors and would get out of her ‘down’ or ‘sit’. We’re working on having her be more neutral around strangers. Overall, Poppy is doing such a great job!

Poppy worked on all of her commands at Petsmart! She did such a good job and was able to hold her commands while people walked by her. She was still whining but didn’t make an effort to get up. Poppy is doing such a great job! It still takes some effort to get her to focus back on me after someone says hello to her but she is doing a lot better than before. Overall, Poppy is such a smart girl!

Poppy went to Fashion Island where she was able to work on all of her commands! She was really excited in the beginning but after a couple of minutes was able to relax. Poppy did a great job holding her commands while people walked by her and even talked to her. Poppy is improving so much and did such a great job today!

Poppy and I went to a local park where we were able to work on all of her commands. Poppy enjoyed sniffing and running around the park! She is such a good girl and can’t wait to show you all that she has learned. Poppy spent some time lounging in my home and played with some toys. Overall, Poppy has learned so much and is so smart.
