Pepper | Pug | Beverly Hills, CA | In-Training

Meet Pepper! Pepper is an 8 month old Pug from Beverly Hills, CA and she is joining us for out Two Week Board and Train Program. Pepper needs help with basic obedience and learning how to adapt to new environments. Pepper pulls heavily on leash and tends to jump up when greeting new people. Pepper also needs to work on her potty training since she has accidents at home. Overall, she is a sweet girl who is ready to learn.

Pepper and I spent majority of the day working on getting to know each other. She is really sweet but was a bit shy and nervous when we got home. We worked on getting used to the e-collar as well as working on our first command which was sit. She did have a bit of a hard time picking it up but did better the more we worked on it. She settled into the kennel nicely and didnā€™t have any potty accidents in the house. She is a good girl!Ā

Pepper and I worked on getting more comfortable with the e-collar as well as working on heel and sit. Pepper is slowly getting the hang of her sit but struggles a bit. Pepper is very shy and timid so she was a bit frantic when outside. Itā€™s very hard to get peppers attention since she is so but anxious but she does her best when working on her commands. Overall, she did amazing today!Ā

Pepper and I worked on her heel at Ruben Ingold Park today with other trainers and their pups. Pepper finds itā€™s really hard to walk by anyone. She will try to avoid them and walk the opposite direction or try and hide behind my legs. She doesnā€™t seems to mind other dogs and is really interested in them but doesnā€™t make the effort to walk up to them. It seems like Pepper is really nervous and still finds it hard to listen to any commands because of how anxious she is. She is getting better with her heel but there is still a bit of tension in the leash while walking her. Her sit is coming along great and she was able to do her come to sit fairly well today. Pepper didnā€™t have any accidents today and went potty outside like normal.Ā

Pepper and I worked on her heel today and her sit. She did have a hard time working at the playground since there were a couple of kids there and she was a bit anxious. Pepper had a hard time with place since she canā€™t jump up very high. After some time she was able to place but struggled on the slippery surface. We worked on going up and down the stairs since Pepper seemed to not know how to go up them. Pepper did have an accident in my home today after coming back from training. Overall, she is such a good girl!Ā

Pepper and I went to Del Amo mall to work on her heel around distractions. Pepper had a hard time walking by people and dogs but today she improved so much. She was able to walk next to people without trying to hide behind me or cross over to the other side. Pepper was really interested at passing dogs and people and will often times shift her body to have a better look, this results in her either breaking her commands or not listening to her commands. Weā€™re going to work on getting her to focus more and work on building her confidence. Pepper did a great job with all of her commands and has improved in her down. Pepper didnā€™t have any accidents in the kennel today. I did notice Pepper seems to have thin hair on her neck. It isnā€™t red or irritated but I went ahead and added a photo. Iā€™ll make sure to keep an eye on it as we continue training!Ā

Pepper and I spent the day working on all of her commands at home. We focused on working on her down today since she is still struggling with it. We also worked on her door manners since she tends to want to rush out any open door. Overall, pepper did a great job and enjoyed one of her chews today!Ā

Pepper and I worked on her door manners today! She had really come out of her shell and has given me eye contact. Weā€™re still working on her becoming more neutral around other dogs since she still turns her body to stare. She is doing a lot better with her down but still needs a little bit of leash pressure to get her to do it. Overall, she is doing amazing. She did have an accident in my home today but didnā€™t have any more the rest of the day. Iā€™m slowly decreasing the amount of time I let her out to potty from 2 hours to an 1 hour!Ā

Pepper and I worked on all of her commands around distractions. She was able to do all of her commands really well but did need to be constantly reminded to do something since she did ignore me a couple of times. We worked on her down and she did great! It took her some time to be able to do it out around distractions but once she was in her down she did amazing. Pepper didnā€™t have any accidents today and was a good girl!Ā

Pepper and I worked on all of her commands with a loose leash today at Petsmart. I donā€™t need to give her any leash pressure unless weā€™re starting to work on her down. At times Pepper will do it no problem and other times sheā€™ll just spin in a circle like she did in the video of us training today. Pepper doesnā€™t seem like going into a down position but when she does go into a down it does take her some time to get adjusted. Overall, Pepper is a good girl and is doing amazing around distractions.Ā

Pepper and I went to Loweā€™s to work on all of her commands off leash! She did such a good job working around distractions but was a bit spooked by all of the noise. Pepper is such a good girl and has gotten the hang of her down. Weā€™re working on her extended sit during her place since she will get up if she gets nervous. Overall, she is a good girl.

Pepper and I worked on all of her commands off leash today! She did such a great job but would get a bit spooked if something was too loud. She also wanted to wander off towards the grass in the beginning but after warming up to her new environment she wasnā€™t interested at all. While we worked on her manners at home Pepper had limited access to what she where she was able to go since she will has potty accidents if she unattended! Pepper does a great job at holding her potty through out the night but does need to be let out first thing in the morning. She is on a 2 hour schedule so she is let out more often. Overall, she did a great job!Ā

Pepper and I worked on all of her commands off leash at a local park! She was a bit spooked by the basketballs but quickly got over it the more we worked around them. Pepper is doing such a great job and is a lot more confident when it comes to jumping up onto things. Pepper enjoyed some free time at the park where she was able to sniff and play but she chose to stick my my side. Overall, she is a good girl. She had no accidents in her kennel or at home.Ā

Pepper and I went to Del Amo Mall to work on all of her commands off leash. She did such a great job with all of the people and dogs that passed her and wasnā€™t spooked by anything we encountered. Pepper has gotten so confident and loves when people greet her. She enjoyed walking into stores and accompanying me while I did some shopping. Overall, she is such a good girl.

Pepper and I worked on all of her commands off leash and on all of her manners. Pepper had a lot of time to lounge in my home with other pups today! She has really come out of her shell and was playing with some of her toys. Overall, she did a great job and she canā€™t wait to show you all that sheā€™s learned. She didnā€™t have any accidents today in my home and went potty like normal!Ā
