Australian Cattle Dog - Dog Training | Pepper | Altadena, CA

Pepper, a Australian Cattle Dog from Altadena, CA went through the Balanced Canine Training SoCal Two Week Board & Train dog training program. Pepper was trained by dog trainer Wyatt Harris in ontario, CA.

Welcoming this handsome young man in to our two week board and program! He is going to spend the next 14 days building a more solid foundation of obedience and learning to follow through with commands on and off the leash. We are very excited to watch him progress!

Practicing the place command today. Pepper requires leash assistance to get him to "break" or release him from his commands. He is beginning to learn that when he hears that word it means it's time for him to come claim his reward for completing the command! Warming up to me after spending the day together.

Pepper out beating the heat and looking stylish on our early morning walk here.

Practicing the heel command at a lightly distracting area. Pepper works well but can get fixed on passer bys. A trash truck passing by spooked him a bit and then he snapped back into command pretty quickly. Great progress and warming up to me more.

Pepper and Rue out getting some training together. They both have to learn the difference between work and play time but they are getting the hang of not getting so distracted by eachother.

Weighing in at the high end of 38, pepper has been eating all of his food after working up an appetite during training sessions.

Took Pepper off leash for a bit during our walk today. Pepper sticks close by my side but once off leash will sometimes slow down or even try to stop to lay down in the shade. The E-Collar acts as encouragement to keep him moving. It's important not to allow him to dictate where and how long our walks last, we are in charge of the walk always.

Invading Peppers privacy a bit here. We have been working every day on his potty training and he is absolutely crushing it. I have kept Pepper in the same routine daily, taking him to the same spots at the same times to go relieve himself. He goes quickly and on command most days. Keeping his routine is important and makes life much easier. No accidents to report.

Practicing some off leash heel today. We have been starting the walk by dropping the leash and letting it drag behind Pepper before transitioning into unclipping the leash and going off leash.

Practicing holding the place command around other pups. Working at a school today around some light distractions.

Sassy boy a bit today while filming our off leash video. Pepper was definitely in a mood where he didn't feel like completing his commands today. It's important to hold him accountable with the E-Collar and make him complete what we ask of him regardless.
