Parker | Chihuahua Spaniel Mix | Los Angeles, CA | In-Training

Parker, a four year old Chihuahua Spaniel Mix, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Parker comes to us knowing some commands, being easily distracted, pulling on the leash while walking, jumping to greet, and being reactive towards other dogs. Over the two weeks Parker will be working on his off Leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Parker is settling in well at my home. He is getting acquainted with his new doggie friends. He isn't interested in playing with them yet, but has no issues being around them.

Today Parker and I worked on his obedience at home. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit, Down, and Place. Place is a command where Parker must sit or lay on a defined object. This commands is great for confidence building as well as teaching him to be calm and relaxed. Parker did a great job on his first day of training.

Today Parker and I went to the park to work on his obedience. We practiced more of Sit, Down, and Place. We practiced a new command, Heel. It is still a work in progress, but he is walking much better at my side. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Parker had plenty of dog distractions to practice around. He was distracted at first, but as we worked on his commands he was able to ignore the other dogs and focus on me.

Today Parker and I went to the park to work on his commands. We practiced a new command, Come to Sit. He was a little stubborn today. He was giving me a hard time with the Down command, even though he knows it. He did very well with the Heel command, even with two little barking dogs that walked by us. Parked looked at them and went back to following his commands.

Today Parker and I stayed home and worked on his obedience commands. We practiced all his commands. I used his friends as a distraction and let them play while we practiced. He was a little distracted by them, but still stayed focused and followed his commands. Once training was over he was able to go join in on the fun with his buddies.

Today Parker and his friend, Catahoula, went to The Shoppes in Chino Hills to work on his obedience around distractions. He did pretty well. He was focused and followed through with his commands. He only got distracted once, with a dog that was lunging and barking at him. Once we passed the dog, Parker went back to focusing on his commands.
