Meet Odin! Odin is a three-year-old Corgi from Los Angeles, California, and he's joining us for our Two Week Urban Board and Train Program! Odin is a friendly little guy who loves meeting people and has already shown what a sweet personality he has. Like many dogs, though, he has a few behaviors we're going to work on during his stay. Odin loves to pull on the leash during walks and will sometimes bark, growl, and lunge at other dogs when he sees them.
Over the next fourteen days, we'll be helping Odin build better obedience skills, improve his leash manners, practice polite behavior both in and out of the house, and gain the confidence and self-control needed to make everyday outings more enjoyable. Today was Odin's first day with me! After picking him up, we spent some time at the park getting to know each other. Odin is a very friendly boy and warmed up to me quickly, already showing his sweet personality. We took a walk around the park, which gave me a chance to start evaluating him. He definitely enjoys taking the lead on walks and showed some leash pulling, which is something we'll be working on throughout his stay. While we were there, he also growled and lunged at a few other dogs, so we'll be focusing on helping him stay calmer and more neutral around other dogs through structured training and controlled exposure.
Once we got home, I gave Odin some time to explore the house and sniff around so he could get comfortable in his new environment. He seems to be settling in well so far and is adjusting nicely. I'm looking forward to getting started with his training and helping him build good habits over the coming days!

Today was Odin's first full day of training, and he had a pretty good day overall! We headed to the park where we began introducing him to his commands and the e-collar. When we first arrived, Odin noticed a couple of dogs from a fairly long distance away and responded by growling and lunging. A little later, an off-leash dog came running nearby, which also caused him to growl and lunge. While these reactions aren't unexpected based on what we're working on, they gave us good opportunities to begin teaching him how to make better choices around other dogs.
We spent much of our session working on his Come To Sit and Heel commands. For Come To Sit, I want Odin to come to my right side when called, walk around behind my legs, and finish by sitting at my left side with his ears lined up next to my leg. He's already starting to understand the pattern and is making good progress with the movement. We also worked on Heel, which is currently the more challenging command for him. During Heel, I want Odin to walk politely at my left side with his ears in line with my leg without pulling on the leash. Since he loves to pull during walks, this takes a lot more practice, but he showed improvement throughout our training session.
The highlight of the day came after we had spent some time practicing. Another dog walked close to us, and although Odin was still interested and pulled forward a bit, he stayed with me and did not growl or lunge. That was a big improvement from how he reacted earlier in the day and is an excellent first step toward helping him remain calm around other dogs. I'm very happy with the progress he made on his first full day, and I'm looking forward to building on today's success over the next couple of weeks!

Today Odin and I continued working on his Heel and Come To Sit commands, and I'm happy to say both are coming along nicely! His Heel, in particular, was much more consistent than yesterday. He did a better job staying in position, paying attention to me, and walking politely without trying to drift away. His Come To Sit is also improving as he continues to understand exactly where I want him to finish after being called.
Just as importantly, Odin continued making progress around other dogs. In the second half of today's video, you can see him practicing his commands while a small dog is barking and lunging at him in the background. As you can see, Odin definitely notices the other dog, but he does a nice job staying engaged with me instead of reacting by lunging or becoming fixated. Moments like these are exactly what we're looking for, as they help build his confidence and teach him that he can remain calm and focused even when distractions are present. He still has room to improve, but today was another great step in the right direction, and I'm very happy with the progress he's making!

Today Odin and I worked on his Place command! For this command, I want him to hop onto a raised object, such as a bench or his place cot, and remain there until I either release him or ask him to perform another command.
Odin found the first part of this exercise very easy! He showed very little hesitation hopping onto benches that were low enough for him, and he happily climbed onto the place cot whenever I asked. The more challenging part has been staying on the object, especially when I take a few steps away, but overall he's making great progress and is picking up this command nicely.
The Place command is excellent for building confidence in public by encouraging dogs to interact with new objects and environments. It's also a very useful command around the house, providing structure and helping dogs learn to settle while things are happening around them. I often use it while cooking, eating dinner, or taking care of other tasks.
Back at home, Odin did a great job relaxing on his place cot while I cooked dinner. It made for a calm, polite, and enjoyable evening for both of us. Great work today, Odin!

Odin had another great day with me today! He continues to make steady progress, and I wanted to take the opportunity to show you how we've been working on one of his most important obedience commands: Come To Sit. Be sure to check out the video above to hear me explain it in more detail!
For Come To Sit, I want Odin to come all the way to my right side when called, walk around behind me, and finish sitting neatly at my left side with his ears lined up with my knee. This command builds a reliable recall while also teaching him to finish in the correct position so he's ready for whatever we do next. Like any new skill, we're taking it step by step and rewarding him for making the right choices. Odin has been catching on nicely, and with continued practice, he'll become faster and more confident each day.
Overall, Odin had another successful day, and I'm looking forward to seeing him continue to improve!

Odin and I had another good day together! We spent most of our time outside, continuing to take advantage of the nice weather while getting in plenty of training and exercise.
One thing I really noticed today is that Odin's commands are starting to become much more natural for him. He's beginning to follow through the first time he's asked without needing nearly as many reminders, which is a great sign of progress. As he continues to understand what's expected of him, he's becoming more reliable and consistent with his obedience. We'll keep building on this foundation by practicing his commands in a variety of environments and around different distractions so his good habits become second nature. Odin is making steady progress, and I'm excited to see him continue improving over the rest of his program!

Odin had another great day with me today! We headed to a new park to give him some fresh sights, sounds, and distractions to work through, and he handled it very well. We spent a lot of time practicing his Place command on a variety of benches, rocks, and other raised objects around the park. Working on different surfaces and in new environments helps build his confidence while teaching him to stay focused no matter where we are.
Odin continues to become more comfortable with the command, and today he showed nice progress by settling into Place more quickly and remaining there until released. Along with all the training, we also made sure to have plenty of fun exploring the park together, making it an enjoyable and productive outing for both of us.
Overall, it was another really good day for Odin, and I'm looking forward to building on today's success tomorrow!

Odin and I had a great training day in Downtown Alhambra! It ended up being the perfect morning to visit because there was an event/grand opening taking place, which meant a particular storefront was packed with people waiting in line. This gave us an excellent opportunity to put Odin's training to the test in a busy urban environment.
We walked right through the crowd, passing lots of people and even a couple of other dogs, and Odin stayed calm, focused, and well behaved the entire time. He did a great job sticking with me instead of getting overwhelmed by everything going on around him. Moments like these are exactly why we practice in different environments, and seeing him handle such a challenging situation so confidently was a huge win for his Urban Board and Train program. I'm very proud of the progress he's making, and today was another big step in the right direction!

Odin and I enjoyed another great day together! Today we spent time training alongside another dog, practicing how to remain calm, focused, and responsive even while another dog was working at the same time. We also worked on walking politely together, which can be a very challenging exercise since it's easy for dogs to become distracted or excited by one another.
I'm happy to say Odin really showed me just how much progress he's made! He stayed engaged with me, listened well to his commands, and demonstrated the self-control we've been working so hard to build. It was great to see him succeed in such a difficult training environment, and he handled himself very well throughout the day. I'm proud of how far he's come, and today was another big step in the right direction!

Odin had another great day of training! Today we worked on his Door Manners, which are an important skill for teaching patience and impulse control. The goal with Door Manners is for Odin to wait calmly at a door instead of rushing through it as soon as it's opened. Whether it's the front door, a gate, or the car door, I want him to understand that he should only go through when he's given permission.
Odin picked up on the exercise nicely today. At first he was eager to move through the doorway, but with some repetition he began waiting more patiently and looking to me for guidance instead of making the decision himself. This helps reinforce that I control access to exciting places and keeps him safe by preventing him from bolting through open doors. He continues to make steady progress with his obedience, and I'm happy with how much more thoughtful and responsive he's becoming each day. Great job today, Odin!

Odin and I had another great full day together! We spent our time practicing all of his commands and manners, making sure each training session stayed fun while continuing to build his confidence and reliability. Odin has been making steady progress and is becoming more consistent with his obedience, even as we ask more of him. He's doing a great job staying engaged with me, walking politely, and making good decisions throughout the day. The strong foundation we've been building is setting him up well for more challenging environments, and I'm excited to continue putting his skills to the test. Great work today, Odin!

Today Odin and I had our first trip to the mall together! We took everything nice and slow, giving him plenty of time to explore and adjust as we made our way through the different sections of the mall. It was a brand-new environment with lots of new sights, sounds, and smells, but Odin showed a great willingness to work and learn throughout our outing. He adjusted to the unfamiliar surroundings very well and remained calm as we practiced.
We spent our time working on his Heel along with his other obedience commands as we walked through the mall, and Odin stayed engaged with me despite the many distractions. We even came across a couple of other dogs during our visit, and I was very happy with how well he maintained his composure and continued focusing on me. Overall, it was a really successful first mall visit, and Odin continues to make great progress every day!

Today was another great day for Odin at the mall! We spent our morning exploring the outdoor promenade before heading inside as the weather warmed up. There were noticeably more people inside than yesterday, which added a few extra distractions, but Odin handled everything very well. He stayed composed, remained responsive to his commands, and continued to make good choices throughout our outing. It's great to see his confidence growing in busy environments, and he's becoming more comfortable focusing on me even with lots of people and activity around him. Overall, Odin had another successful day of training and continues making excellent progress!

Odin and I went back to the park today for another fun training session! Today we focused on his off-leash recall, continuing to build on the Come To Sit command he's already learned. Since the command is familiar to him, the goal was simply to make sure he responds just as reliably whether his leash is attached or not.
It's important to remember that Odin's off-leash recall is intended for safe, controlled environments such as your home or securely fenced areas for now. He's doing a great job understanding that coming back to me is always the right choice, and his confidence with the command continues to improve.
Odin caught on quickly and showed great progress throughout our session. I'm very happy with how he's developing, and today was another successful step toward building a reliable recall. Really good day for Odin!

Odin and I had another fun trip to the mall today! It was much more crowded than on our previous visits, but that didn't slow him down one bit. He stayed calm, collected, and focused as we made our way through the busy walkways, handling all the extra people and activity like a champ! Since it was a bit warm outside, we spent our time exploring the indoor sections of the mall, which Odin really seemed to enjoy.
We also had a few great opportunities to practice his greeting manners with friendly strangers. The goal is for Odin to greet people politely without jumping up or putting his paws on them, and he did a wonderful job today. He stayed composed, accepted attention nicely, and continued showing great progress with his manners. Overall, it was an exciting and successful day, and I'm very proud of how well Odin handled everything we encountered!

Odin and I had another great day at the mall today! Since we arrived nice and early, we were able to spend a little extra time outside before heading indoors. It was a great opportunity to enjoy the cooler morning weather while practicing his commands around people, other dogs, and the usual outdoor distractions.
As the day went on, the mall became much busier thanks to the weekend crowds, but Odin handled it just as well as he did yesterday. He stayed calm, responsive, and continued to Heel nicely through the crowds, showing that he's becoming much more comfortable working in busy environments. It was great to see him remain focused even with all the extra excitement happening around us.
Odin continues to make steady progress every day, and today was another reminder of how much he's improving. Whether we were outside or navigating the busy indoor areas, he showed great manners and confidence, making it another successful outing together!
