Nola | Mixed Breed | Los Angeles, CA | In-Training

Nola a two year old Mixed Breed, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. She comes to us with knowing commands but not always following if distracted and pulls on the leash while walking. She is a bit fearful of new people, especially men, and takes time to warm up to them. Over the two weeks Nola will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Nola is getting settled in at my home. She did show a little aggression when we got home. It took some time for her to want to get out of the car. Nola got to meet the rest of the pack. She doesn’t want to play, but is able to socialize with them.

Today Nola and I worked on her obedience at home. We practiced commands Sit and Place.

She is a smart girl and learns quickly. Nola is settling well, she’s finally breaking out of her shell and showing her sweet personality.

Today Nola and I worked on her commands at home. We practiced Sit, Place, and Down. Nola has become more trusting in me and allowed me to put the e-collar on her. She has warmed up to the other dogs and has initiated play with them. Since she has been doing so well with her training, now we can start going out in public to work. This way I can see how she does out of her element.

Today Nola and I worked on her obedience around the neighborhood. We practiced Sit, Down, and Place. We practiced a new command, Heel. She was definitely nervous when I took her out of the car. At first she just wanted to jump back in and stay in the kennel, but as we worked on her commands she started to relax and focus on what I was asking her to do.

Today Nola and I went to the park to work on her commands. She did pretty well. She was a little more relaxed, not a nervous. She did growl a woman that approached us, but I let Nola know it was okay and had her sit wait while the lady and I talked.

Today Nola and I went to Lowes to work on her obedience around distractions. She was nervous with all the noises and people distractions, but we worked through it. A few customers talked to her as they were walking by. Nola didn’t react or growl.

Today Nola and I went to the park to work on her commands. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so Nola had plenty of people and dog distractions to practice around. When she first saw Jose, she actually walked right up to him, wagging her tail and licked his hand. When I handed her over to Jose to work with her, Nola was a little hesitant and wanted to come back to me. I had another leash attached to her, that held onto, in case she wanted to be reactive. She actually listened and followed commands that Jose gave her. She did really well today!

Today Nola and I went to the mall to work on her obedience around distractions. We actually got to practice her commands semi-off leash (letting her drag the leash while we worked) until security told us we weren’t allowed to. We met with other OffLeash SoCal trainers and their dogs, so she was able to work around dog distractions as well. She is getting much better with strangers approaching her, no growling or backing away. I let her approach them if she is interested. Nola let a few trainers pet her. She did a great job today!

Today Nola and I stayed home and worked on her obedience. We practiced all her commands off leash. I used her friends as a distraction and let them play while Nola and I worked. Nola did very well, she ignored them and followed all her commands. Once training was over I let her join in on the fun.
