Mushu, a 1 year old Australian Shepher, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our 3 week board and train program. Mushu comes to us with naughty habits: digging, chewing objects, lack of following commands, barking at and nipping at people. Over the next 3 weeks Mushu will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Today Mushu started his first day of training. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We practiced commands come and sit. Mushu is having a great time running around and playing with his new doggie friends!

Today Mushu and I stayed home and practiced commands. We worked on come to sit. I added a new command, Place. It seems like he already knows this command, he hopped right onto the dog cot the first time I asked him to Place.

Today Mushu and i practiced commands, whenever the rain would stop. Tonight was the first night Mushu joined the rest of the pack for meal time. During feeding time, the dogs must be calm and wait patiently. The calmest dogs get to eat first. Once they are finished with their meal, they must walk away or wait patiently. No one is allowed to go eat out of another dogs bowl. Eating with the pack is great for teaching patience, calmness, boundaries and respect for other pack members.

Today Mushu practiced all his commands. We started adding in duration (holding a command for a longer time). Mushu learned a new command today, Under. We are still working on the barking at people. He still barks at my family but is getting a little more comfortable around them. My sister has been helping me out with Mushu by spending time and interacting with him. He is fine when i'm not around, but he will bark at her if I am around.

Today Mushu and I went to a shopping center to work on commands. We walked into petsmart. He did pretty good, but barked a couple times at people that walked by. Once I corrected him he would stop barking.

Today Mushu and I stayed home and trained. we practiced all his off leash commands. We worked on under and send away to place. Today we started working on his Canine Good Citizen requirements. Mushu has passed Most of the commands. We are still working on being greeted by new strangers (test 1&2) and being left with a stranger while I step away (test 10). He is getting better at not charging or being so reactive to people, but he does growl if someone tries to pet him. We will keep working on it so he can pass his test.

Today Mushu and I went to the park to work on his off leash commands. We also worked on his distance recall. He has been doing better when it comes to meeting people. Today he met someone new and actually licked their hand instead of growling or barking.
