Moose, a 5 month old Sheepadoodle, joined OffLeash SoCal for our three week board and train program. Moose is a sweet and energetic boy. Moose’s owners are having trouble with his lack of following commands, pulling on the leash, barking, and jumping. Over the next three weeks Moose will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!

Today I introduced and conditioned Moose to the ecollar. We worked on commands sit, down, and place. Place is a command where Moose must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching him to be relaxed and calm. Moose loves hanging out with his new friends, especially ruff housing with his buddy Micho the Great Dane.

Today Moose and I went to Lowe’s to work on his off leash obedience and to stay out of the heat. Moose is doing a great job with his off leash training! We walked by other shoppers, he ignored them and didn’t try to go up to them and say hi. He stayed in command while people were walking by him. Someone came up to us and complimented Moose on how well behaved he was For a 5 month old puppy.

How does Moose and his friends stay cool in this summer heat? By having a doggie pool party. We went over to a friends house where Moose made a new friend, Blue the Pit Bull/Husky. He didn’t want to go swimming, but he would go on the first step to cool off his paws. Once it cooled down we went for a walk around the neighborhood and practiced his off leash commands.

We also worked on his distance, which Moose did very well at. I was able to get pretty far from him and he still held his sit and down commands.
