Missy, a one year old Shepherd Mix, has joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Missy went through our lessons program in the past. She does know her commands but lacks following them when distracted. She doesn’t walk properly on leash and has become leash reactive. Over the two week Missy will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!

Missy has settled in well at my home. She is having a blast with all her new doggie friends! It took a little time to warm up to the other dogs, but once she did Missy was running around and playing nonstop.

Today Missy and I went to the park to start her first day of training. We practiced all her commands. We worked on her duration and distance. She did pretty well, but we do need some more work on her heel.

Today Missy and I worked on her commands around the neighborhood. We practiced all her obedience commands. We worked on her duration and distance. She does pretty well, but will break if I get too far away. Missy is getting better with her Heel, staying closer to my side.

Today Missy and I went to The Citadel Outlet to work on her commands around distractions. She was a bit nervous and distracted when we first got there, but as we walked around she settled down and was able to focus on her training. Missy did great around all the people distractions.

Today Missy and joined me on a shopping spree at the Cerritos Mall. We met with another OffLeash SoCal trainer and his dog so Missy could practice more around dog distractions. It was pretty busy at the mall, so she was a little overwhelmed at first. As we worked on her obedience commands, Missy relaxed and became more focused.

Today Missy and I worked on her training at home. We worked a lot on her duration, holding commands longer. I used her friends as a distraction while she and I practiced. She was a little distracted and wanted to join in on their fun, but I made sure she followed through with her commands. Once training was over,

Missy was able to play and socialize with her buddies.

Today Missy and I went to the park to work on her commands. We practiced her commands semi-off leash. I let her drag the leash while we worked. She did pretty well. We just need to tighten up her commands and soon she will be ready to work completely off leash!

She did a great job. She wanted to go up and say hi to the other dogs, but stayed focused and followed her commands.

Today Missy and I spent the day out in Huntington Beach. They had a surf competition going on, so there were crowds of people and a lot of distractions to work around. Missy was a little excitable in the beginning, but as we walked around she relaxed and was able to work on her commands semi-off leash. She did very well around the bikes, skateboards, and other dogs. The only thing she was distracted by were the seagulls.

Today Missy and I stayed home for training. We practiced all her commands. We worked on her food manners, teaching Missy that she must wait patiently until given permission to eat. We also worked on her door manners. Even though a door is open, Missy cannot pass the threshold until I let her.

Today Missy took the day off from training and spent the day playing and socializing with her friends before she goes home tomorrow. I gave her a bath so she could be clean when she sees you, but she didn’t stay clean for long. She wrestled around with her buddies and got dirty again. Missy can’t wait to go home and show you everything she has learned!
