Maya | Border Collie Mix | Cypress, CA | In-Training

Meet Maya! Maya is an 11 month old Border Collie Mix from Cypress, CA and she’s joining us for our One Week Board and Train Program! Maya struggles following commands around distractions such as people and dogs. She tends to eat random objects off the ground and won’t drop it when told. Maya also needs help with her door manners since she tends to bark and rush out of the door. Overall, Maya is such a sweet and loving girl who is ready to learn! Check out her 7 day transformation!

Maya and I spent the day working on all of the commands she learned at her lessons. She did struggle being around so many people and dogs and would try to walk up to them. We worked on her ‘heel’ today and she did great! She did try to rush up ahead of me at times but would fix herself when I told her ‘heel’. Maya is doing great with her ‘place’ and ‘down’ but can’t hold any of her commands for very long. We’re working on increasing her durations. Maya got accustomed to the kennel quickly and even took a long nap after training today! Overall, Maya is doing such a great job! She drank plenty of water and ate all of her dinner.

Maya and I went to a local park to work on her extended commands. She still gets up if I put her in a ‘down’ command. If I take a couple steps back she will automatically get up and go into a ‘come to sit’. She did really great holding her ‘place’ and ‘sit’ commands! Maya is getting better at her ‘heel’ but was trying to go ahead of me today. She was a bit spooked by the gardeners that were at the park with their loud power tools. She was a bit frantic when they turned them on and tried to rush ahead of me. After working on walking calmly near them she seemed to relax. Overall, Maya is doing such a great job! She is eating all of her breakfast and dinner and is drinking plenty of water.

Maya and I worked near my home today! We focused on building up her extended commands such as ‘sit’ and ‘down’. I am able to get a lot farther away from her now without her getting up. We worked on her ‘door’ manners since she really struggled with wanting to rush out of the door. After a couple of minutes she did such a great job and was able to hold it for about a minute. Maya was also able to lounge in my home today since it was really hot out outside. She loved napping on my couch. Overall, Maya is being such a good girl!

Maya and I went to Petsmart where we were able to work on all of her commands. She is doing a lot better with her extended ‘down’ and ‘sit’ and was able to hold it for longer than a minute. She would get a bit distracted when she saw other people and would get excited but she didn’t make the effort to walk up to them! Maya is doing so much better with her ‘heel’ and sticks right next to me! Overall, she is being a good girl!

Maya and I went to Citadel Outlets where we worked on all of her commands around distractions. She did such a great job and worked really well around other pups. She did get a bit excited when people said hello to her but she did awesome overall. Maya was able to hold her extended commands for over a minute and did such an amazing job with her ‘heel’! She ate half of her breakfast and dinner and drank plenty of water.

Maya and I went to Long Beach Airport to work on all of her commands around distractions. She did really great around suitcases and didn’t mind them at all. She did get spooked by loud car doors slamming or the planes that were landing. We worked on walking back and forth through heavy suitcase traffic and she did amazing! We even worked on her ‘down’ in a heavy traffic area. She was a bit nervous at first but after a couple of minutes she was able to get the hang of it. Maya is doing such a great job and she can’t wait to show you all that she’s learned!

Maya and I spent the day working on all of her commands at a local park! She did such a great job! She is a lot more confident now even with her ‘place’ command and will try and jump up on random objects! Maya spent majority of her day playing with toys and running around the big grass area at the park! She is such a good girl. She ate majority of her breakfast and dinner and she can’t wait to show you all that she has learned!
