Maisie and I spent the rest of the day getting to know each other. She is such a sweet girl but was really timid in the beginning. We also had our first lesson where she was able to get used to the e-collar. At first she was a little unsure about it but warmed up to it after a couple of minutes. We ended the day by working on her ‘heel’! She enjoyed a couple treats before bed. She ate half of her dinner and is being a good girl in the kennel.

Maisie and I worked around my neighborhood today. She worked on her ‘heel’ and her ‘down’. She is getting the hang of ‘heel’ but at times will lag behind or refuse to walk further. She doesn’t try to pull me as much but will twist in her leash if she doesn’t want to keep walking. She is getting a lot better with her ‘down’ and needs minimal pressure. We also introduced ‘place’ and ‘come to sit’ today as well. She was having a hard time sitting on her own and I would have to add a little bit of pressure to help her sit but now she does great! She ate half of her breakfast and less than half of her dinner today.

Maisie worked on her ‘heel’ and ‘come to sit’ today at wilderness park. She did have a bit of trouble with her ‘come to sit’ and was being a bit stubborn when I asked to come. She would plant her feet and not move or at times would want to lay down. After a couple of tries she did come to me very slowly. She did have an accident in her kennel today. She had really green runny stool today. She didn’t have any more accidents the rest of the day. She did drink a lot of water. She didn’t eat any of her breakfast and nibbled at her dinner.

Maisie and I worked on more of her ‘heel’ and ‘come to sit’ today at a local park. She is doing a lot better and didn’t have any stomach issues today! She nibbled at her breakfast and dinner. I will be adding pumpkin to try and get her to eat more of her food! She is doing really well with her ‘heel’ and is able to keep up with me. There are times when she stops but continues walking when I call her forward. She is a little less timid today but isn’t eating all of her food. She did get a couple of treats that she did eat and enjoy. We ended the day with some play time.

Maisie went to Lowes to work on her ‘heel’ and her ‘come to sit’. She did get a little overwhelmed being around a lot of people and plants. She was trying to smell everything and at times would refuse to keep walking. After a couple of minutes we were able to work again and she did great! She has gained a lot more confidence and is being a good girl! She isn’t having tummy issues today and ate a half of her breakfast and dinner!

Maisie went to Petco today to work on all of her commands around distractions. She was a little timid walking into Petsmart but didn’t make an effort to stop walking or walk ahead of me. She did a great job ignoring other dogs and was a bit curious when we passed by the birds. She is doing really well with her ‘heel’ and didn’t need any leash guidance to keep her in the correct place. She is improving a lot on her ‘come to sit’ but still needs a lot of encouragement. She did struggle a bit with her ‘down’. She didn’t want to lay down when there was a lot of people passing her or when she felt nervous. She did growl and let out a small bark at an elderly lady who wanted to pet her. She was really nervous about the interaction but recovered when we walked away. She played with her stuffed toys today and was a little more open. She is being such a good girl! She ate half of her breakfast and dinner.

Maisie worked on all of her commands today at Santa Monica Promenade. She did a great job ignoring other dogs but was really timid around bikes and strollers. She would try and hid behind me when a stroller or bike passed and would try to bark at passing skateboards. She doesn’t like to walk over anything that is metal such as a grate or a sewer hole. She also didn’t like going on the elevator. She was pull back and refuse to walk. We walked on the second story floor and she was trying her hardest not to walk near the edge. She did great with her ‘heel’ and her ‘down’ today! She was able to ‘down’ while other dogs passed her. She really struggled holding it and would get up when she was a bit unsure. She did really great today but it did take her a little longer than usual to get used to her new environment. She ate half of her breakfast and more than half of her dinner.

Maisie went to a local skate park to work on her commands around objects on wheels. She was really timid and didn’t want to walk near any of the skateboarders. She did really well with her ‘heel’ but would rush ahead of me if she got nervous with the skateboarders. We ended up walking to a park where she was able to work on her commands with minimal leash pressure. She was still a little spooked by the skateboarders so we took it a little slow with all of her other commands. We worked on a lot of her house manners such as ‘door manners’. She did a really great job getting the hang of it and was really patient holding all of her commands. We ended the day with a ‘heel’ where her leash was dragging next to me. She did a really good and stayed next to me the whole time. She does have trouble when cats are near. She wants to go after them. We had some play time before bed!

Maisie and I worked at a local park today to work on her off leash ‘heel’. She really struggled going up and down the stairs. She was really stiff and thought she was going to fall off. We worked it for a couple of minutes before she refused to move. We worked on her ‘place’ and even worked a bit on her confidence. She went down the slide a couple of times but it didn’t seem to be her favorite. She did a lot better with following all of her commands with a loose leash today but still needs a bit of guidance with her commands. She is doing a great job and is eating majority of her food.

Maisie went to Wilderness park today to work around animal distractions. There were a lot of ducks and people walking their dogs. She did get a bit timid and would lag behind me at times when we walked but did a great job catching up to me once I gave her some encouragement. She is getting a lot better at her ‘heel’ and was even able to walk with the leash dragging. She doesn’t need as much leash guidance for her ‘come to sit’ and is improving nicely! She is still a little timid and shy but is coming out of her shell every day. She ate half of her breakfast and all of her dinner!

Maisie and I worked at El Dorado Park where we were able to work on all of her commands with the leash dragging. She did a great job but would stop randomly and refuse to move. After a couple words of encouragement she was able to catch up. She did a really great job working around other dogs and people. She is getting a lot better with her extended ‘down’ and ‘sit’ but will get up if she gets nervous. Overall, Maisie is being a good girl! She ate half of her breakfast and dinner.

Maisie worked on all of her commands at Citadel Outlets today around other trainers and their pups. She did such a great job around all of the distractions but would get spooked about walking too close to shop windows or metal doors. She had a bit of trouble going up and down a flight of metal stairs but did a great job working through it. She still doesn’t like going in the elevator and will make an effort to not walk near or in one. Overall, she did a great job with all her other commands today!

Pupdate 4/28/2022

Maisie and I worked off leash today at Citadel Outlets! She did did a great job with all of her commands and ignored strollers and loud carts as they passed! She is getting a lot better with her ‘come to sit’ and her ‘heel’! She is a little spooked by her reflection in the store windows at times but after a while she doesn’t seem to mind them. She still isn’t comfortable going in and out of elevators. She has gotten a lot better at going down and up stairs. She is being such a good girl!

Maisie did a great job working alongside other pups at Citadel Outlets today. We focused heavily on walking closer to the shop windows and going up and down stairs. She did a great job but is still really timid of elevators. She is doing so good with her ‘heel’ and even did amazing with their ‘greeting manners’ today! She was really happy and excited and loved being around the other pups. We ended our day by having some free time at a local park where she was able to run off leash! She is such a good girl and is learning so much. She ate half of her breakfast and dinner.
