This is Luna, a 5 month old Mini Goldendoodle from Monrovia, CA. She is here for our Three Week Board and Train. Luna is such a sweet pup that is very friendly and bubbly but has some issues jumping on people, pulling on the leash, and barking for attention. Over the next three weeks, Luna will learn basic and fundamental commands to be the best Luna she can be! Stay tuned for her PAWsome transformation!
Today was mostly having Luna getting used to everything new here. She did well on the car ride here. Luna seems very shy with new surroundings and unsure of what to do so we will be working on her confidence. She peed and pooped in the afternoon on the grass so I gave her lots of praise for it. Later, we took a walk in the park to see what she knows and after walking for a little bit, she did not pull on the leash as much. Luna also was making a lot more eye contact with me as we were walking so that is awesome to see!
PUPDATE 12/6/2021
Today was a big day for Luna. We went over Come to Sit and overall she did okay. She is still getting used to the e collar and listening when being called. She is improving on staying in command while I walk away. We are working on her jumping but she does it very often. Luna does good in the crate, however, she is not a fan of going back inside it. She is doing great with going potty outside! She ate all her food today and had some water. She peed and pooped today. I noticed that she looks up at me a lot while we walk which is a great start to training!
PUPDATE 12/7/2021
Luna had a good day today at the park. We worked on Send to Place, Down, and Heel. It did not take her a long time to understand Send to Place so that is great news. The Down command is a little difficult for her as she tries to get up a couple of times or she does not want to lay down. Her Heel has been improving and she does not pull so I am now working on getting her to Heel closer to my leg. She gets spooked easily so hopefully with the time here she will increase her confidence. I introduced her to the other training dog, a Labrador Retriever, and she seemed very unsure about him and wanted to stick with me the majority of the time. There were a couple moments where she seemed interested but then soon backed off. Her potty training is doing well. Eating/drinking/peeing/pooping normally.
PUPDATE 12/8/2021
Luna mainly worked on Send to Place and Place today at the local park. She is getting the hang of it well although some place objects are more difficult for her than others. We walked around the park in a Heel position and she was doing well with great eye contact. She still jumps on occasion but is improving. Whenever she does something well, saying"Yes" seems to help her understand and motivate her to keep doing good work. She did not eat much today but I am not concerned. She is eating/drinking/peeing/pooping well.
PUPDATE 12/9/2021
Luna had a very productive day today at the DIY center. We practiced mostly Down, Send to Place, and Heel. Her Down command was difficult for her so we were working through that. She also had a hard time staying in commands like Down and Sit. I noticed she was a little distracted by items found on the ground so we are going to practice in more distracting environments. She was very unsure of the animatronic Grinch so I was praising her a lot for sitting close by it. She did great with Send to Place and Heel today!
PUPDATE 12/10/2021
Luna worked hard at the park today mainly focusing on Heel and Down. Luna has been practicing with a loose leash Heel and has done very well. She is not quite ready for her dragging the leash while we walk. Luna is still very concerned with noises and objects around her. When I placed her in a Down command, I practiced walking around her and specifically behind her and she would get up every time. After a couple reps in the park, she was able to go in a Down command without me helping her a lot. Luna is still working on her Duration commands but today was a good step with her confidence issues. Luna had some soft stool today and did not eat much this morning. I am not concerned but I will keep you updated.
PUPDATE 12/11/2021
I took Luna to her first public training session at the local outdoor mall. Overall, she did very well and conquered some fears. We worked on Place, Send to Place, Heel, Down, and Duration Down. Since she is a very shy pup, I wanted to expose her to a new environment like this. We walked through the crowd of people seen in one of the pictures and she was doing good for the most part. Each day she is getting better about her confidence so that is great to see. Yesterday's training helped with her Down command today and with the distractions around. She is eating/drinking/peeing/pooping normally
PUPDATE 12/12/2021
Luna did great at the park today! We mainly practiced the Down command with all the distractions and worked on socialization. Her confidence has really improved the past couple days so that is great to see. There were kids running around, dogs off leash, and the soccer ball behind her and she did great keeping in command. Pictured is my dog Mira and her sitting together for socialization and they had a good time together. There were a total of 4 dogs that she met today and she was shy at first but warmed up eventually. Overall, her socialization today went well. She is eating/drinking/peeing/

PUPDATE 12/13/2021
I am so impressed with Luna's training today! I took her to the Century city mall to practice in a more distracting environment. There were so many people, dogs, and kids around and she did amazing! She did not move out of command when dogs walked by or when kids were running past here about 3 feet away from her. She held a Duration Down on Place for 2 minutes while all the distractions were all around her! Amazing progress! We worked on Heel, Place, Down, and Send to Place. Everyone at the mall was staring at her saying she was so cute and so well behaved. I put her in the middle of where people walk in the mall a couple times and she just stayed in command, even when shopping bags and people were walking very close to her.

I took Luna to Lowe’s to practice dragging the leash with all her commands. She had a hard time with Come to Sit today, did great on Send to Place and Down. Her Heel can improve a little as she tends to stray away. She also pooped and excited peed in Lowe’s today so we are working on that.
PUPDATE 12/15/2021
My main focus with Luna today was practicing recall off leash. I took her to a tennis court to work on it and overall she did well. If we do a couple reps of Come to Sit off leash, she knows the pattern and she does well. If I tried to do the same thing a couple minutes later, she would not be as responsive so we will be working on her being more consistent with Come to Sit. She was able to stay in a Duration Down while I worked the other training dog so that was great to see. She was still excited but remained in her command!

Luna had a good day today at the local mall. We worked on Come to Sit, Heel, Send to Place, Down, and Under. Her Come to Sit has improved a lot so that is great to see. Her Heel is still not as tight as it can be. Luna did great with Send to Place on every object I put her on! I put her on a slide to help her increase her confidence and she absolutely loved going down the slide! It was so cute! We worked on Under and she got the hang of it very quickly!

Luna did great today at the Santa Monica Pier! I’m so proud of how she did overall. There were so many sounds, people, and dogs and she remained focused. The other thing I could say we need to improve on is how tight her Heel is. But every other command she did very well. Everyone was looking at her about how cute she is! She paid no attention to the dogs that were on the pier, the birds flying by, and the bikes that were rolling around. Her Duration Commands were really great today.

Luna had a great day today at the outdoor mall. My main focus was practicing her Heeling and she did much better today than yesterday. I had her off leash 90% of the time throughout the mall and she followed me the entire time. I feel very confident in her ability to be off leash and I do not worry when she is off leash. The only thing I can say to work on is she sometimes anticipates what we are going to do next. She gets too eager to go on Place when we are just Heeling near a Place object. We also need to work on coming when called even if there are toys around as she tends to think we are in play mode. We walked by a couple of dogs and she did not pay attention to them. She is great at the Under command and can fit in small areas without any hesitation. Her Duration commands are great. Eating/drinking/peeing/pooping normally.

Luna had a great day today! I took her to another local outdoor mall to work on all her commands. I am very happy about how well she was Heeling today even around a small crowd of people. In the video, you can see she goes straight to the bench in the beginning of the video. Although I was going to send her there, she anticipated what I was going to do. But her Duration commands were great even when there were people all around here. Overall, great work today.

Luna had a very productive day today. Not only did we do some socialization with other dogs, I took her to Petco and later brushed her. Overall, she did very well. Luna still gets really excited but timid when meeting new friends but once she warms up to them, she likes playing with them. She does get too excited sometimes and jumps on them so we are working on learning puppy boundaries. Petco went very well. I took her off leash and she went on every Place object I even put her on even a cat tree! I worked on Door manners there and she did well. I wanted her to get used to being brushed and she was getting some mats in her fur so I brushed them out and she loved being brushed. She was just a little squirmy but once I was petting her and brushing, she just laid there. She is eating/drinking/peeing/pooping normally.
PUPDATE 12/21/2021
Luna worked hard today at the mall. She did all her commands but as you can see in the video, she anticipates what I was going to ask next. For example, when she was on Place, I told her Come. She went on another Place instead of listening to the command given. It only took her two times to understand what object I wanted her to do the Under command. I am very proud of her progress. For all her hard work, I let her run around the mall since it was not crowded and she loved it. I had her about 30 feet away from me and I told her to Come and she sprinted at me so happy! So cute!

Today I worked with another trainer and her training dog to practice Luna's off leash commands even when a dog is around. Overall she did okay. There were a couple times she got spooked by the Lab and got out of command. I am not sure if that was just with this particular dog or other dogs so we will keep practicing that. I want you to notice in the video that she is still squirmy and hyper. This emotion gets the best of her and performs the commands to the best of her abilities. Other than that, she was doing well today. She still sometimes jumps the gun on commands when she thinks I am going to ask her to do something.
PUPDATE 12/23/2021
It was not the best day for Luna at the mall. I went with the trainer from yesterday to work on her confidence. It seemed like she was very unsure about the Lab walking behind her so we were practicing that today. Luna was jumpy and kept looking behind her to see where the other dog was. She was okay with sitting next to the Lab. She did great on all Place objects and received lots of compliments. Her Under was good and you can see in the picture she can fit in very small spaces. Which she likes because it acts as a safe spot. She is eating/drinking/peeing/pooping normally. It is important to note that she must poop right before entering a public place because she will nervously poop inside public areas.

Luna worked on her house manners which include Door Manners, Food Manners, and Crate Manners. What I noticed is the more I use the e collar and make her do the command over and over again, she gets overwhelmed and confused. She did well with her Crate Manners but the more I did it, the more confused she was. She did better with Door Manners and allowed me to go back and forth in the doorway multiple times. She is eating/drinking/peeing/pooping normally.
PUPDATE 12/25/2021
Luna was a rockstar today at Venice beach! There were a lot of bikes, loud music, and running kids and she did very well. She did get spooked a couple times but overall she did great. She worked on all her commands off leash. She was better at listening to commands instead of anticipating what I was going to ask next. Training is most effective when I praise her a lot, keep my tone upbeat, and not over correcting her for when she makes a mistake. Her Heel was great throughout the day and her duration commands were good. We walked by a couple of dogs and she did not pay attention to them. Can't wait to show you everything she has learned tomorrow!
