We’re excited to welcome Luna, a strong and confident bully mix from Hollywood, CA, who is joining us for a Two Week Urban Board and Train Program. Luna is ready to dive into her training, and over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be helping her build focus, manners, and confidence in busy urban environments.

This program is all about setting her up for success—teaching clear communication, structure, and reliable behavior, even amid distractions. Luna is already showing she’s eager to learn, and we can’t wait to see her progress as she gains new skills and hones her instincts!

Luna had her very first day of training today, and it was all about getting to know her and setting her up for success. We began by assessing her baseline obedience and how she responds to everyday cues and situations. This helps us understand her strengths, areas to work on, and how she reacts under a little pressure.

Once we had a good sense of her starting point, we began teaching her how to respond positively to pressure — helping her stay calm, focused, and confident even when things feel challenging. She did really well with the new exercises, showing curiosity and willingness to engage, which makes for a strong foundation to build on.

Luna also got plenty of play and mental stimulation throughout the day, keeping things fun and rewarding while she learns. This first day was an important step in helping her develop reliable, confident behaviors, and we’re excited to keep building on it in the days ahead!

Luna had her first real adventure outside the usual training space, spending time at Home Depot to practice staying calm amid all the sights, sounds, and smells. We focused on desensitization, reinforcing heeling and sitting even when the world was moving fast around her. She met the challenge with curiosity and determination, learning to navigate distractions while keeping her focus on us. By the end of the session, she was calmer, more attentive, and showing the beginnings of confidence in handling busy, unpredictable environments.

Luna has been doing great out in public and continues to pick things up quickly. She’s learning all of her basic commands and is becoming more confident responding to them in real-world environments. Each session, she’s showing better focus and understanding, even with distractions around her. It’s been really nice to see her engagement grow as she learns what’s expected, and she’s building a solid foundation that we’ll continue to develop moving forward.

Today we headed out to the Newport Beach Pier, which gave Luna a whole new world to take in. Between the strong wind, crashing waves, busy foot traffic, and constant noise, it was a great place to build confidence. We split the day into multiple shorter sessions, working basic obedience and engagement in different spots along the pier. Luna did a nice job staying present and curious without getting overwhelmed, and she settled more quickly with each session. This kind of exposure is helping her understand that she can stay calm and responsive no matter where she is.

Luna has completed many sessions focused on building clear communication and reliable obedience. With each outing, she’s becoming noticeably more comfortable working around distractions and navigating busy environments without losing focus. We continued reinforcing her basic commands in public spaces, emphasizing engagement, leash manners, and holding positions despite movement and noise around her. She’s starting to approach new situations with more confidence and composure, showing steady progress as her training continues.

Luna wrapped up her first week of training on a really solid note. This week was all about building foundations—clear communication, engagement, and introducing structure in a way that keeps her confident and willing to work. She’s picking up her basic commands well and is already showing better responsiveness and understanding of pressure and release.

We spent time in public settings to begin desensitization, working through new environments while reinforcing heeling, sits, and downs. She’s becoming more thoughtful in how she moves and checks in, especially when distractions are present.

For a first week, Luna is right where we want her. The groundwork is in place, and next week we’ll continue layering in duration, consistency, and higher expectations as she settles further into the program.

Luna had a great day soaking up the sun today. We took some time to slow things down, relax, and enjoy being outside together, which she really seems to appreciate. She’s been settling in nicely and showing a sweet, calm side during our downtime, and we snapped a photo during one of those relaxed moments. She’s still not eating much of her renal diet kibble yet, but we’re keeping a close eye on it and making sure she’s comfortable and feeling good overall.

Today we took Luna out to a busy shopping center to continue building her confidence and real-world reliability. She was exposed to heavy foot traffic, carts, cars, and constant noise, and handled the environment very well. Luna stayed engaged with her handler, maintained good leash manners, and showed clear improvement in her ability to remain calm and focused despite high levels of distraction.

This type of environment is important for teaching neutrality and reinforcing obedience under pressure, and Luna rose to the challenge. With each repetition, she became more comfortable moving through crowds and responding to direction. Overall, a strong session that shows her confidence and public manners continuing to develop nicely.

Today Luna trained at Montclair Place to get quality reps in a busy, real-world environment. The mall gave us constant movement, tight spaces, noises, and unpredictable distractions, which made it perfect for proofing her obedience. We focused heavily on calm, structured heeling through crowds, stopping and sitting automatically, and maintaining engagement despite people passing closely by. We also practiced duration in sits and downs while activity continued around her, reinforcing that she can relax and hold positions even when there’s a lot going on. Overall, Luna handled the environment very well and showed increased confidence, neutrality, and responsiveness, which tells us she’s learning how to think and work instead of reacting in stimulating public spaces.

Over multiple sessions, Luna has been working on tightening up her commands and positions. We focused on cleaner sits, downs, and place work, with an emphasis on precision, duration, and staying committed until released. With repetition, she’s becoming more consistent and intentional in her movements, showing clearer understanding and improved reliability each session. Steady progress as we continue polishing the details.

Luna is wrapping up her stay and heading home this Sunday. She’s made solid progress throughout the program and is putting everything together nicely. Tonight we’re prepping to film her final video, where she’ll show off her obedience, responsiveness, and how well she’s handling new environments and distractions. Looking forward to sharing her progress and sending her home confident, calm, and ready for real-world life.

Today was Luna’s last full day of training, and she’s heading home tomorrow with a huge amount of progress behind her. From day one to now, the change has been impressive. She’s much more confident in public, responsive to commands, and able to stay engaged even with distractions around her. Her heeling is cleaner, her positions are solid, and she’s learned how to work through pressure calmly instead of shutting down or getting frantic.

Most importantly, Luna understands how to listen now. She’s thinking, checking in, and making better choices on her own. This final day was about reinforcing everything she’s learned so it transfers smoothly back home. We’re really proud of how far she’s come in such a short time, and she’s absolutely set up for success moving forward.
