Loki | German Shorthaired Pointer | Whittier, CA | In-Training
Loki, an eleven month old German Shorthaired Pointer, joined OffLeash SoCal for our Two Week Board and Train program. Loki comes to us with lack of following commands, leash pulling, being easily distracted, counter-surfing, and jumping to greet. Over the next two weeks Loki will be working on his off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see his progress!
Loki, has settled in well at my home. He is getting along great with the pack. He definitely has a lot of energy. Loki still wanted to play, but everyone was pooped out from chasing him him.
Today Loki worked on his obedience at home. I introduced and conditioned him to the ecollar. We practiced commands Sit and Place. Place is a command where Loki must sit or lay on a defined object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching him to be calm and relaxed. His friend, Obi, decided to help with the training.
Today Loki and I went to the park to work on his commands. A few other OffLeash SoCal trainers met with us and got to assist with Loki and his training. We practiced more on Sot and Place. We worked on a new command, Heel. Heel is still a work in progress, but Loki is walking much better now, less pulling.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Today Loki and I worked on his commands around the neighborhood. We worked on two new commands: Come to Sit And Come to Heel. He is getting better with his Heel command. Come to Heel is a little tricky, but we will keep practicing. Loki did very well today!
Today Loki and I went to Lowes to work out of the rain. He was a bit distracted with people we walked by. Loki wanted to go up to everyone and say hello. Other than that, he did very well at being focused and following all his commands.
Today Loki and went down to Huntington Beach to work on his commands around distractions. He did pretty well. We tried to do some semi-off leash training, letting Loki drag the leash around, but he’s not quite ready. He got distracted by some dogs passing by and tried going to say hello. After I let him know he couldn‘t do that, he ignored other dogs that walked by. Some more practice and Loki will be ready to start practicing off leash.
Today Loki and I worked on his obedience at home. We did a little group training with his buddies, Archie and Emma. We worked on all the obedience commands, duration (holding commands longer), and with dog distractions. Loki did pretty well, but he broke his commands a few times to try and mess around with his friends.
Today I took Loki to Hollywood to work on his commands around high distractions. He did very well with all the commotion going on around us. He was very focused and obedient. Sorry about the videos not showing up on his blog. Please click the link and Loki’s video will pop up.
Today Loki and I went to the park to work on his obedience. Loki started working semi-off leash! I let him drag the leash around while we practiced his commands. He did pretty good. We just need to clean up a few of his commands and he will be ready to start working completely off leash!
Loki’s first day completely off leash! We went to a local school playground to work on his off leash obedience. We walked over to a Girl Scout cookie stand. Loki got compliments on how well behaved he is off leash. He sat politely as a few little girls were petting him. He did a great job today!
