Please welcome Levee!
Levee is a Miniature Pinscher / Pit Bull mix who has joined us for our Two-Week Urban Board and Train Program. He’s a driven, intense dog who is ready to start learning the structure and guidance he’s been missing.
Levee is currently struggling with jumping, resource guarding, biting, showing some reactivity, and he does not yet have an obedience foundation. These behaviors can make it difficult for him to safely and calmly navigate everyday situations, especially in more distracting urban environments. Much of this stems from a lack of clear boundaries, impulse control, and understanding of expectations.
Our first step with Levee will be establishing structure and opening clear lines of communication. We’ll be introducing foundational obedience so he can begin to understand what’s expected of him and learn to look to his handler for direction. We’ll also be working heavily on impulse control, helping him learn to slow down and make better decisions instead of reacting immediately.
As he progresses, we’ll be addressing his resource guarding, biting, and reactivity in a safe, controlled, and fair way. The goal is to help him develop safer coping skills, improve his ability to remain neutral in stimulating environments, and build confidence through consistent guidance.
Our overall goal for Levee is to create a dog who is more obedient, more stable, and safer to live and work with, while helping him learn how to exist calmly in the world around him. We’re looking forward to getting started and sharing his progress throughout the program.

Levee has completed his first 24 hours of training, and he’s off to a really nice start. He came in confident and has been very willing to work, especially when treats are involved. We spent time assessing his baseline level of training and beginning to teach him what pressure means and how to respond to guidance, and he’s been eager to engage and figure things out.
He’s settling in very well and is already letting his personality show. He has a lot of energy, and we’ve been focusing on channeling that energy into productive learning and positive structure. He seems comfortable here and is enjoying the attention and the work. He’s a fun boy and we’re excited to see his progress continue.

Levee spent time today practicing his positions and working through his commands. He has a strong food drive, which we’re using to our advantage to clearly mark and reward the behaviors we want. He stays engaged and eager to work, and it’s helping him build a better understanding of what’s being asked of him.
We’re also incorporating leash pressure to help guide him when he needs a little extra help finding the right answer. This gives him clear, fair communication and helps him learn how to turn that pressure off by making the correct choice. He’s starting to put the pieces together and is showing good effort during his sessions.
Each day he’s becoming more responsive, more thoughtful in his actions, and more confident in his work. He’s a fun dog to train and continues to make steady, positive progress.

Levee is making great progress as we continue channeling his natural drive in a productive way. He’s a dog with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and we’re helping him learn how to focus that into the work. By setting clear, firm boundaries, he’s beginning to understand that the expectations are consistent and that he needs to follow through every time. A big part of his progress has been teaching him to trust and listen to his handler at all times, not just when it suits him. He’s starting to show more reliability, better focus, and a willingness to work through guidance, which is a huge step forward for him.

Levee worked at Home Depot today and handled the environment like a champ. He’s not insecure at all — confident, curious, and very aware of everything going on around him.
Today’s focus was reinforcing that commands apply everywhere, not just in familiar settings. We’re teaching Levee that obedience isn’t optional and doesn’t depend on what’s being offered — he has to follow through regardless of distractions or location.
He worked through the noise, movement, and foot traffic while maintaining his positions and staying accountable. Clear structure and consistency are helping him understand expectations at all times. Strong session overall — he’s showing he can handle public work and still stay dialed in.

Today we worked on food refusal, reinforcing that he is not allowed to take food unless it comes directly from his handler. This is an important boundary exercise, especially for a dog with strong drive.
We presented food in different ways — on the ground, from a hand, and with mild distractions — and required him to remain neutral and ignore it unless given clear permission. The goal is teaching him impulse control and reinforcing that he must look to his handler for direction instead of making decisions on his own.
He’s naturally confident and motivated, so this kind of work really channels that energy in a productive way. When he understands the expectation, he rises to it. Each repetition strengthens his self-control and reinforces that commands apply everywhere, not just in structured sessions.
He’s doing well with it, and you can see him thinking through the exercise instead of acting on impulse. Great progress.
