Lavi | Mini Goldendoodle | Corona, CA | In-Training

Meet Lavi, a 13-month-old Mini Goldendoodle from Corona, CA. He will be joining us for our Three Week Board and Train Program. He is full of so much fun energy and absolutely loves to play. During Lavi’s stay, he will be learning Obedience, Leash Manners, Greeting Manners, and House Manners. Some of the specific concerns his owner wanted to address were him jumping on guests and unsafely running out of the front door. Stay tuned for his 21-day transformation!

Today was Lavi’s introduction/eval session. I was able to observe his normal behavior and get a feel for the authentic Lavi. Our first training session began with teaching Lavi how to Sit (stay seated until released) and Come (come and sit directly on my left side awaiting further instructions) at Ridgeline Park. The park made a great training location as we faced many distractions such as birds, squirrels, and other dogs. The further we got into training, the less impact the distractions had on him. He did a great job!

Today was a great session for Lavi! Our session took place at Lowes and we worked on the commands Place, Come to sit, and Extended sit. We experienced many distractions such as approaching dogs and people. It was a great opportunity for him to work on his focus and ability to ignore environmental distractions. Lavi demonstrated lots of energy and willingness to learn. I would say he had a great and successful day 2 of training!

One of our sessions today took place at the park. This park was a new location for Lavi, which meant lots of new smells, people, and dogs. There was no shortage of distractions. We continued to build his understanding of the Sit, Come to sit, and Place commands. I wanted to make the Place command drills a little more challenging, so I had him Place on many different items. He was a little hesitant at first, but as his confidence increased, he quickly adapted! Another great day of training!

One of today's sessions took place at the park where we continued to build a solid foundation in the Sit, Sit to come, and Place commands. The Down command was introduced and he adapted quickly. After a few short repetitions, he caught on to the Down command and was shortly doing it on many different surfaces. Another great day of training!

Today’s sessions took place at the park and Lowes. We worked on more repetitions of the Sit, Sit to come, Place, and Down commands. To make it a little more challenging, I would create space between Lavi and I. This would start only about a foot of distance, but lead to about 20 feet. In the beginning, I could tell Lavi was getting nervous about the increased distance between us two. But after a few repetitions and Lavi’s confidence building, he had no issues. As a young pup, I can see his confidence building every day with training. Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at my residence where we focused on all learned commands, with an introduction to house manners. Lavi’s parents expressed a safety concern with him rushing out of the front door. We continued to build a strong foundation on his learned commands, but added having the front door open. This training session helped Lavi understand that he can only exit the front door when instructed to. Lavi did a great job!

One of today's sessions took place at a new park. New smells, new dogs, and new people made great distractions for our training. We focused on the Heel command with less direction from me. Lavi was challenged by the many coming and going distractions, but still had a great training session!

Today we continued building a strong foundation in the Come to sit, Sit, Down, Heel, Place, Extended sit, and Extended place commands. Lavi did really well and continues to have great spirits in learning! Another great day of training!

Lavi seem to get a little uncomfortable with the bouncing of a basketball near us, so we continued our training nearby it. He quickly adapted and focused on our session. One of today’s sessions took place at a new park. The park had many new distractions such as ducks, goats, people, and dogs. This session was challenging Lavi to stay focused while disregarding the many distractions around him. In this session I had him interact with another dog while randomly starting obedience when asked. Disengaging from playing to go right into obedience is an important skill to have and Lavi is doing well to reach that. We also worked on greeting manners. Another great day of training!
