Lara | English Cream Retriever | Santa Monica, CA | In-Training
Lara, an 8 month old English Cream Retriever, has joined OffLeash SoCal for ou 3 week board and train program. Lara is a sweet and energetic girl. Her owner is having issues with Lara jumping to greet people and other dogs, trying to get out of her harness on walks, and potty training. Over the next 3 weeks Lara will be working on her off leash obedience and manners. Check in to see her progress!
Today I introduced and conditioned Lara to the ecollar. We practiced commands Come and Sit. Lara did a great job on her first day of training! She is having so much fun with her new furry friends!
Lara working on a new command, Place. The place command is where Lara must sit or lay on an object. This command is great for building confidence as well as teaching her to be calm and relaxed.
Lara working on her commands at the park today. We started working on new command, Heel. It's still a working in progress, but she is walking a lot better now with less pulling. We need to work more on her focus because she gets easily distracted with her surroundings.
Today Lara and I worked on her commands around the neighborhood. We practiced come to sit, place, and heel. Lara is doing a great job with her training!
Today Lara and I worked on her commands at home. She practiced all her commands: come to sit, place, down, and heel. It was a bit hot, so I took Lara to a friends house for a doggie pool party. She loved playing in the water. She stayed on the first step and splashed around. She made a new friend, Blue the Pitbull/Husky.
Today Lara and I went to the park to work on her commands. We started working on duration (making her hold commands longer). She did a great job today. Some people stopped to watch her train and complimented her on how well behaved she was.
Lara close to being off leash! Today I didn't even hold onto the leash, I let her drag it around while I gave her commands. I was able to walk away farther than the length of the leash and she still stayed in command. Lara learned a new command, Under.
Today Lara and I went to the Block at Orange to work on her commands around high distractions. She was a bit nervous at first, but after we walked around for a bit she calmed down. She did a great job today!
Today Lara and I went to the park to work on her off leash commands. She is does get a little distracted when she sees another dog, but she still stays in and follows commands. she had to get a bath this morning because she wasn’t paying attention while playing with her friends and ran right into me while I was picking up the dog stool. she got a small little cut on her muzzle from running into the shovel. I gave her a bath and put peroxide and liquid bandage on her cut.
Today Lara and I stayed home and worked on her off Leash obedience. We started practicing for her Canine Good Citizen test. She must pass all 10 requirements. We also worked on her food manners by making her sit and wait until I give her the okay to eat her food, as well as leaving her food when I give her the Out command.
My apologies for the late post, I got some injuries to my hands the night before. Today one of our other trainers helped me out and took Lara out to train. Lara went to Lowe’s and to Birch street in Brea to work on her off leash obedience in public.
Lara working off leash at the Citadel Outlets with OffLeash SoCal trainer, Haley.
Today Lara joined me on a shopping spree at the Fashion Island mall. People stopped to watch Lara practice her off leash commands. They were all impressed by how well behaved she was!
Today Lara took the day off from training and enjoyed the day playing and hanging out with her friends. She can't wait to go home and show you all she has learned!
