Meet Kowboy! He’s a 13-month-old German Shepherd / Husky mix from San Pedro, CA. He will be joining us for our Three-Week Board and Train Program. Kowboy is very goofy, playful, and smart. Areas of concern are his reactivity, running away, chewing on shoes, inconsistent obedience, and playing too rough. During this training program, we will focus on his pet parent's areas of concern as well as Leash manners, Door manners, Food manners, Car manners, Greeting manners, leash obedience, and off-leash obedience. Stay tuned for his 21-day transformation.

Today was our first session of training. This was a great opportunity for me to earn his trust and start building a bond. In training, we focused on the Come to sit command, Continuation/ Terminal markers, and being comfortable working closely together. As training progressed, he became more comfortable with me and interested in the training. A great first day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at the Santa Monica Pier. It was a great opportunity for me to see how Kowboy reacted in high distraction environments. In training, we focused on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Extended sit, and Heel. Kowboy didn’t seem to be bothered by any of the distractions and I could tell he was really enjoying being on a new adventure! Kowboy caught on quickly to the commands and seemed bored at times. I started to challenge him in creative ways, forcing him to problem solve. I could tell he was more engaged when challenged. Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at Legg Lake Park. We focused on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Break, Off, and Heel. Kowboy is doing a great job with learning the commands. He was engaged and playful throughout the session. He did have a potty accident in the van today on the way to training. I will keep an eye on this and make sure there are no underlying issues that may need to be checked into. Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at La Brea Tar Pits. This was a new experience and presented new people, smells, and dogs. During this session we focused on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place. Kowboy did great and had the opportunity to work with other handlers. We did unfortunately have 3 more potty accidents in his crate. I have been taking him out more often and for longer walks, but that has not helped with the potty accidents. Will continue to try different methods. But nonetheless, another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place in a new park. Everything new creates lots of distractions. During this session we focused on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place. It was also done much with the leash on the ground, so I am able to read if Kowboy is a flight risk. I didn’t see anything that would worry me and he is right on track! Unfortunately, we did have another potty accident last night. I’ve tried taking Kowboy out on more walks, longer walks, and changing the crate size, but unfortunately, we are still having accidents. I will continue working on this issue. Nonetheless, another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at the park. During this session we continued to focus on building a strong foundation in the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Under, Down, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place. The first half of the session was on-leash with little help from me and the second half of the session was completely off-leash. Kowboy did really well keeping the focus on me and not other dogs which seemed to be a big distraction for him. We also worked on Food refusal, Door manners, and Car manners. Another big win with no potty accidents last night or today! Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at Home Depot. We worked on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Down, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place. The first part of the session was on-leash and the second part was off-leash. Kowboy did really well with ignoring distractions and staying engaged in training. We were able to walk the entire store for around 30min off-leash. Kowboy was approached a few times by how impressed people were with his display of obedience. We also worked on Door, Car, Greeting, and Food manners. Another day without potty accidents and another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at a new Home Depot. We worked on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Down, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place completely off-leash. Kowboy was a little jumpy at random loud notices which made him break extended sit/down commands. Also, he got a bit nervous when people walked close to him. Regardless we worked through all his challenges and he did a great job. Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at the Santa Monica Pier. We worked on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Down, Under, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place completely off-leash. The Pier was pretty busy with plenty of distractions. The random loud noises of things falling would startle him. We trained in those areas to help him work through the noises. He did great! Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at the Santa Monica Pier. We worked on the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Down, Under, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place completely off-leash. The Pier was much busier than yesterday, which created a great training environment. Kowboy did break command when approached by a small dog wanting to play. We worked through that and were able to address that trigger. Another great day of training!

One of today’s sessions took place at the Glendale Galleria. This training session was about 1.5 hours long and I wanted to push his obedience endurance. We continued building a strong foundation in the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Down, Under, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place completely off-leash. Kowboy again broke the sit command once to play with another dog. I see this mistake as a positive experience so I can help him understand when playing with another dog in public is appropriate and not appropriate. Also, no potty accidents last night or today. I’m very proud of Kowboy’s progress and happy spirits! Another great day of training!

Very proud of Kowboy and happy to have another great day of training!

One of today’s training sessions took place at the Citadel Outlets. We performed the commands Come to sit, Sit, Off, Place, Down, Under, Break, Heel, Extended sit, and Extended Place completely off-leash with many repetitions. This location was pretty congested, which brought many new people, dogs, and distractions. Kowboy did very well with his commands and gave the distractions little focus. He seemed to be eager to train and have fun. I’m very proud of him, his progress, and his loving spirit. Another great day of training!

One of today’s training sessions took place at a Home Depot. Kowboy did stellar in training as we continued working on all commands. I purposely took Kowboy in the places with the biggest distractions, but he stayed focused and stayed in command. Throughout training many members of the public approached Kowboy to pet him and express how well behaved he was. Another great day of training!

Kowboy did well staying focused and keeping in command. The distractions did come to an overwhelming level at one time, but we slowed down and worked through them. He did a great job! Another great day of training!

One of today’s training sessions took place at a park. I dedicated this session to increased time and distance when Kowboy was in an extended Sit or Down command. I could see some anxiety build as the distance increased, which made it a great training opportunity. Another great day of training!
